2021 macbook pro m1 max have 140W charger but when you put it on electric board for charge, it’s really scare of drop and crack of 10k charger. so its really good deal to purchase this extension cable that really help full for me.

Now apple being apple, had this genius idea of removing the cable from the box (earlier macbooks used to ship with this, afaik).

    The cable:(seller Appario retail)
-Is sturdy and 6ft long, will occupy significant space in your bag if you want to travel with it.
-properly grounds the laptop thereby solving the shocks/tingling issue/electric charge issue on the laptop body.(more in detail below)
-is genuine, comes in genuine apple packaging.

This cable is one can say a necessity especially for those who are getting the new macbook pros, for 2 reasons:
    1. The 140W charger is massive and chances of it dropping out of a socket plug increase many times due to the weight and its misplaced center of gravity. Even the slightest of pull on the wire and you’re probably looking at a ₹10000 bill coz you dropped and damaged the adapter.

    2. The most common and unbelievable reason of macbooks missing out on the grounding/earthing…which causes that tingling sensation, which gets very annoying when you use the laptop plugged in. Now this apple claims to be an acceptable behavior, but honestly for a laptop which costs in lakhs this is beyond absurd, an issue which can be so easily solved, but since apple wants you to shell out more money, it has stubbornly denied addressing this. So you buy this cable if you want that issue to go.

Now there are two caveats here with this cable, first, apple has for reason stopped manufacturing 3pin plug wires, as they are not listed anywhere on the site. Second, not all of these extension cables are made equal. So be very careful with that as you can’t return this product. The one I got was from Appario retail and this literally was one purchase where I thougj I am gambling with my money.

Now you may buy a 3pin plug socket but that is no guarantee of resolving the grounding issue. Here’s why…
In some of these wires which apple made, although it gave three pins, but forgot to complete the connections between the grounding pin and the cutout which slides over that metallic disc on the adapter.
Two photos are attached for your reference here, the first one is of the cable I purchased, if you look closely you’ll see a thin metallic strip inside the cutout, this is vital for completing the connection and removing the grounding issue.
Second pic is one of the two pin standard plug which comes in the box along with the new macbooks, see that it has no metallic strip. Hence no grounding, hence the electric shocks.
This is also the case when you buy just a swappable 3pin plug(only the plug) from apple. Even that does not have this metallic strip.

So all in all let us be all thankful to apple that it is still give the adapter along with macbooks, which if going by the trend may soon become an additional purchase, just like the iphones in near future 😝

Apple Power Adapter Extension Cable (three pin) is redundant. MacBook should be shipped with a three pin charger or the cable in the box.

Bit too costly for what it is. But became a necessity for me.

If you have a MacBook of any kind, it doesn’t matter if your charger is a MagSafe or USB-C. This extension cable is the only one on the market with a 3-pin Indian plug! You could buy much cheaper 3rd party cables that do the same thing but having used one of those as well, and I can guarantee that there is a marked difference in quality.

    PROS:
    1. 3-pin Indian plug
    2. very durable
    3. an original apple cable, so it pits perfectly, unlike all of the 3rd party products I have used.
    4. Will last you much longer than your other cables, is a much thicker cable, and will not become warm when used with the higher wattage power adapters

    CONS:
    1. it is priced significantly higher than the other products on the market. You are paying the apple tax!
    2. It does take more room in your bag and is heavier, which is a con, but also read point 4 of the PROS.

[warning]: This would be a long review…

Excited to see the power of M1 pro chips, After being long term windows user, decided to shift to macbook for the first time and bought 14 inch base model which comes with a 67W power adaptor and two pin duckhead.

Soon after the battery went down, I plugged in the charger and felt a tingeling sensation. It was weird and sometime painful to the fingers. This makes it impossible to use the laptop while charging. And somehow affected the usability for which such heafty price was paid.

Then started the search for solution. I got to know many people had same issue since past couple of years. The reason behind tingeling sensation is in India, 220v is supplied as against 120v in other countries. So
some current is leaked and macbook being a metal body, pass this current to the person who touches it.

Although this current is harmless, its uncomfortable and also leaves the system without earthing which could potentially damage the product.

Now apple taking Indian consumers for granted did nothing in this regard till date.

Upon searching for the solutions I came to know about this cable which have three pins.

    Problems:
    1. Apple India website selling a cable with 3 pin where earthing is pointed inwards. This is not compatible with any of the Indian household and the potential buyers for this product on apple India website is 0.

    2. Amazon India product page is showing 3 pin which is different from the actual product received. Its the normal 3 pin. Also In description, it is not mentioned that the latest 67W and other adaptors are also compatible.

This being a non-returnable product on both the online sellers, I brought this to notice to Apple India and Amazon India as well.

Apple India redirected me a contact number which I thought wont do any good and any possibility of correction would mean a lifelong wait. Amazon on the other hand redirected me to contact the seller, which when tried didn’t land me anywhere.

Frustrated with this experience and keeping in mind some reviews that confirms the compatibility of this product with latest macbooks , I decided to go ahead and buy it myself. ( even if it means I could potentially loose 1700 Rs. In case the product is no compatile.)

I am happy to let know the potential buyers, This product comes with Indian pin and would be compatible with all the latest models of macbooks and if your home/flat have proper earthing, would resolve the earthing issue as well.

Thanks to amazon and appario retail for sending the genuine brand new condition product that gives me peace of mind.
