I needed a bluetooth adaptor, since my ASUS Prime 570x-Pro mobo did not come with one.
The bluetooth adaptor was simple to install. I plugged it into one of my front USB ports on my PC, and then I downloaded and installed the drivers off of ASUS’ site. I got it setup in under a minute. I was able to pair my Airpods (1st gen) within seconds to use them for Discord and other activities.
As a distance test, I was able to go from my computer all the way to my bathroom (16 foot distance) without any issue or degradation in sound. For whatever reason, I can’t get the same kind of quality/distance on my iphone (which also uses BT 5.0) with my airpods, so I consider ASUS’s BT adaptor a success.
While there are many other BT adaptors on Amazon at two thirds of the price of this one, I didn’t mind spending $6 more to ensure I was receiving a quality product. I’ve been using the adaptor for a week so far, and I will update it if anything happens.

Plugged my new ASUS USB-BT500 into my 13yo Core i7 running Ubuntu Linux 22.04.2 LTS with x86_64 architecture, and it just worked, pairing pretty easily to my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones, and allowing selection between the stereo and handsfree profiles.
Detected as a Realtek chipset.
