Namrata –
Ok I am in awe of Asus products so I always tend to buy them .
I had Zenfone 5 first, which I sold for 7000, because I was tempted to buy this one.
PLUS POINTS :
1. SCREEN RESOLUTION:
Full HD ! Smooth Smooth Smooth !I can hardly take my fingers off the screen!
2. RAM:
4 gb RAM ! Ok So after vigorous testing , I found that 2gb is more than enough. But 4gb in 18k(after cancelling out the VAT) is really good.
3. CAMERA:
Camera is perfect with no glitch at all (This is after the update). And this goes for front as well as back! You can check the sample Pics online for proof! For People saying camera is not good at all :I disagree, obviously its not overboard but for that I would like to say that it ain’t a Camera centric phone. If you compare Nikon camera (of 4k) and this, obviously Nikon camera would give you an outstanding output coz the device focuses ‘solely’ on camera.Nevertheless I found Zenfone 2’s Camera awesome!
4. 18W CHARGER:
As promised, It charges around 60% in 40 minutes. That’s for sure !
5. SOUND:
The sound quality is really high with headphones on ,beats are clear which was not that promising in Zenfone 5.
6. UI:
The UI is really better than others . The dropdown menus are really easy to access unlike others..
7. UPDATES:
Trust me guys, ASUS people are really working hard. They give updates every week and the updates actually work! I found battery to be draining ‘a lot’ but after the update, it’s relatively fine.
8. TRANSFER SPEED:
I tested this with fully loaded 64gb memory card and Viola ! It worked with no hangs (unlike Samsung)!
9. 4G :
Ok we all know in few days , even 3G would be outdated. So Yeah,a plus pont for Asus.
10.HARD BACK PLASTIC:
The back is amazing! This is the first time,I didn’t buy any back cover but a transparent one just to retain the silver color !
11. HANGING:
No hangs ! Nothing ! I tested with 107 apps/games with heavy RAM usages running in the background. If u want a phone which doesn’t hang at all, then Zenfone 2 is for you!
12. 100 GB GOOGLE DRIVE STORAGE:
Usually you get 15 GB with google drive , but asus gives you 100GB when you first sign up!
12. INTEL:
Boss, it’s Intel! What more can you ask for! 64-bit Intel, clocked at 2.3 GHz,G6430 GPU. Wow!
13. THIN:
Remarkably thin!
14. TRICKS : lol I fanatically scribbled ‘C’ on lock screen and camera popped out. So yup many surprise sure to come!
MINUS POINTS :
1. NO INTERNET ON SIM2:
Ok that’s like a howler from ASUS ! Seriously ASUS?!
2. HEATING DURING CHARGING:
Although it did carry out it’s promise of fast charging but it heats a lot during charging due to 18W. After the update, I found lesser heating issues but still some heating issues are there, I won’t lie.
3. CAMERA :
As said, camera is awesome , but for Camera lovers, it’s not upto the mark. I compared samsung’s 16MP with this, I found this better. My friend, a photographer found the camera descent but not superficial.
4. RAM LEAKS :
Although, the phone does not hang at all even during multiple apps being run in the background, but there are RAM gloats. At first, when I bought, it was displaying only 1 GB ram available . I was like What the fuck! But after the ASUS updates, it showed 2.7GB RAM available..According to me after force stopping ‘all’ the apps, the remaining RAM must have been >3GB. But sadly it’s not.But that would likely be fixed in the 5.1 lollipop update as it’s said that Lollipop 5.0 is buugy..
5. SPEAKER: Being honest here, the speaker ain’t that loud.
6. NON-REMOVABLE BATTERY: Yup battery can’t be replaced.
7. BACK COVER HARD TO REMOVE: It took me 5 minutes to take it out lol. Minor issue though ..
SOME TIPS:
1. Please let your phone drain to 0% for the 1st time . Then charge it to 100 % and keep for 15-20 minutes more. That would improve the battery life to some extent.
2. Do factory reset 1st ! It’s mandatory otherwise you might get errors like ‘Unfortunately the app has stopped working’..
3. Install the Updates 1st and then use.. After getting reviews from Users, ASUS was quick enough to solve the problems even after the release !..
4. Disable or uninstall built-in apps which are useless.Fortunately, ASUS doesn’t provide you with useless and ‘uninstallable’ apps.
5. Battery would be draining at 1st but later it would improve. So don’t worry too much. 2 times a day is good enough for me though.
6. Use Auto Manager to lessen the access to background apps.
P.S : With final thoughts I would say that if the battery issue is solved ,Zenfone 2 would surely give a big run for other biggies!
Ok with this, I congrats you all if you go with Zenfone 2..If I found any other points, I would add to this post.
And as usual , faster delivery by FLIPKART. Good work. Keep going..

I have been seeing a lot of negative reviews about this phone Zenfone 2. I own 4 GB RAM, 32 GB 2.3 GHz version, and let me tell u honestly, the phone is decent and is very good for its price.Let me clarify the issues raised by most of the dissatisfied people:-
1. Excessive Heating while charging:- This phone uses fast charging technology which can charge yr phone fully within1.5 hr!.It uses a 2.1 A charger. So some amount of body heating is normal. Even Redmi Note heats up in the same way( I have one).
2. Bad Rear Camera. So untrue!. the camera is very very good. It comes with so many modes and gives you so much freedom to select your shot.. u will realize only when u buy it. If people are photographically challenged, one can’t help them.Yes, Zoom quality is not exceptional as it is only digital zoom. for this price, don’t ask for moon!
3. Poor Battery Performance. People who have complained haven’t mentioned under what circumstances they have used the phone. That is, with wifi continuously on or with brightness at full etc. Let me give you the correct input.. Without wifi on but with 3G always on , with brightness at 70% and auto brightness on, this battery lasts full 20 hours with moderate usage of internet. With continuous wifi on, it lasts 10- 12 hrs with heavy usage of data. In ultra saving mode, overnight idle consumption is just 1-2% and in optimized mode its just about 4-6%. In my Redmi Note, the battery performance is little better, but the point to be noted is Redmi is HD and this phone is FHD. One of my friend has HTC M8. Its battery also lasts about same. Hence battery is very good. Ignore peoples’ crib about the battery.
4. Excessive Bloat ware. Again so untrue. Please note that Zen UI is heavily tweaked. It has many apps of its own which are meant for versatile usage. Only unsolicited apps I found were trip-adviser,, zenio, amazon kindle and 50+ games. rest all very useful, that is if u know how to use them.
5. Excessive RAM usage. 4 GB RAM is great, But any time about 1.5- 1.8 GB free RAM is available which is more than necessary for any fast processing activity. Just because it has 4 GB RAM, to expect all of it to be available is so stupid. More over, it has a great app called Auto Start Manager which is akin to Greenify. It allows u t o control which app to run in background and which one to go to hibernate.
I have not highlighted any of its unique features such as 4 GB RAM and Intel processor and all. U have already read them in other reviews. I just wanted to inform u about the complaints by many users due to half baked knowledge. This phone surely doesn’t deserve any of them.
If u r looking for a decent phone at a very reasonable price…just go for it. I give full 5 stars. I had zenfone 5 also. There I gave only 4 stars due to its poor battery. Here all the shortcomings of ZF5 have been looked into. Hence 5 Stars.
UPDATE TO MY REVIEW ( 04 Jun 15). I am sorry, my review of this product giving 5 stars was not so mature. Now after using the phone for one month, I have come to the conclusion that the phone is full of bugs! I will explain.
1. Battery drain. Initially, the battery was decent. But after update, the battery drain has become a big headache. Full charge lasts about 8 hrs. Internet is full of battery complaints.
2. Audio lag while playing video. This is a horrible problem. I am just not able to enjoy the video due to audio video sync issue. if u stop the video and re-run, it becomes ok. Many people have complained. See Zentalk page.
3. Call drop. Call drops frequently. Antenna sensitivity is not up to the mark. This I can say with confidence because I stay in an area where network strength is a bit tricky. I had a karbonn earlier which had this network issue. But my Redmi note is excellent. This phone again is weak in network strength. ( Both Redmi note and Asus have same airtel connection).
4. Misc complaints. I have read many complaints about no direct usb connectivity to the PC, PC link and file share not working, heat up isues, having to do many software tweaks such as system cache cleaning by a complicated process etc…
Overall, I can say, the phone has been released without developing the OS properly. The phone is a beast spec-wise and performance wise. But with a battery lasting just about 6-7 hours and a lagging audio video and host of other problems, this just proves one thing, Asus may be a giant in hardware, but they are still dwarfs as far as software is concerned i certainly do not recommend it now.
UPDATE AS ON 18 JUN 15. Yes, this phone had many bugs. But Asus is sincerely trying to address them. We receive updates once in every 3-4 days. Most of the bugs have been resolved. For the commitment of Asus to address the problems of consumers and the performance of this beast of a phone, I add 2 more stars to 4.

I was excited with the specs of Asus Zenfone 2 when I first heard about it..and then was eagerly waiting for it to be on my palm. The specs, cost and the Red color attracted me most. So here is my feedback after using both the 2GB(16GB) and 4GB(32GB) ZE551ML versions.
Let’s start with few critical points-
1. RAM – For 2GB RAM version, even after uninstalling all bloatwares possible and disabling all apps through Auto-start Manager, you end up having 600-700MB RAM most of the times. Sometimes, it gets down to 300-400MB too. Restarting the phone gets it up back to 800MB though. Even in 4GB RAM, most of the times you would get mostly around 2.2-2.3GB RAM. So, gist is, ZenUI packed OS eats up considerable RAM space, which is why I had to switch from 2GB to 4GB. Just to compare, my earlier phone Sony Xperia ZR with 2GB RAM, at any moment had more than 1GB RAM free, which was really great! Overall, I haven’t seen any lagging while using in the 4GB versions, though a little bit on 2GB versions, but thats pretty marginal and for few seconds only.
2. Battery – 3000Mh sounds pretty heavy, however it doesn’t perform up to the expectations though. With wifi on and 30 mins of gaming/streaming, the batter % goes down 1% almost every minute. So, if you start with 100%, after 30 minutes of heavy usage you’ll end up with battery strength at close to 70%. But, in sleep mode, it stays pretty well. Also, with Asus boost charging available with 4GB versions, it really helps to have the phone fully charged within 80-90 minutes.
3. Display – Just about okay, works fine with me though didn’t find it as gorgeous as my Sony Xperia ZR. Somehow, I feel display isn’t bad for sure but could have been a bit better, overall with Full HD view.
4. Camera – I am not an expert, but this one is good enough for me with lots of betterment and customization modes, probably better than my Sony Xperia ZR (surprisingly, yes!). But, there are people who might not have been satisfied with the camera, so it comes down to individual opinions, which may differ.
5. Design and Look – The Red one looks really awesome and attractive! The design is pretty good too, ensuring I feel comfortable holding a 5.5inch screen on my comparatively smaller hands. Perhaps, I would have liked the regular positions of the volume control and screen lock buttons at the side instead of back and top respectively.
6. Speakers – Just about fine with it so far though could have been a bit louder. Speakers inside is actually smaller than the outlet shows on the back. Surprisingly, Bass boosting and Surround sound is available only in earphone/headphone mode, thats a negative in my book.
7. Sim – Though it’s a Dual Sim phone, the second Sim slot will work only in 2G mode and can’t connect to Internet. So, disappointed with it.
8. Flipkart – In case you have bought any phone and willing to return/exchange for any reason within 30 days, I suppose you won’t get it. Because, for Flipkart it has to be a techincal fault to agree to return/replace it just being overall unsatisfied isn’t enough. Though the delivery service is as usual great, but the after sales service is degrading day-by-day. So, guys, think again if you want to replace in particular costly mobile phones.
As far as the phone is concerned, this is absolute beauty of a phone with great specs, price, design, looks and charger with few ‘just-short-of-expectations’ observations. Definitely, I would recommend everyone to consider this one particularly for daily-users willing to have a high specs yet cost saving phone.

A perfect phone..using it almost from.8 9 months…battery back is good…its very fast…camera is superb..i faced two problems though… which i can ignore..but might be very important for.others..
First at times…the front camera respond bit late..when.you move.phone it takes 1 sec to react….at.times.. not always…when.u reopen camera app it.fixes…
Secondly..it has dual sim…but you can use internet only on one sim.slot….that can be an issue for.people who want.tonuse 2 sims and want.to use internet simontaneously….
Rest built quality is very good…back button is very useful for selfies..volume…etc…i am gull satisfied with this phone…

I am very pleased with the phone quality after using this for three days. For those who complain about rear camera here is what i did: (i) update system (155MB) (ii) update pixel master software through play store (11MB) (iii) Go to camera settings and change resolution to 13M from 10M (default). (iv) Change flickering speed to 50Hz (v) Chage picture quality to fine from standard. What you will see now will be awesome pic quality without any dots. It worked for me.

Hello everyone, I am having Zenfone 2 ZE551ML 64 GB version and having basically 3 major problems..
1. Phone is getting very hot almost like iron during charging on top right beside camera.
2. While playing video, as long as I keep touching the screen and optiom menu remains on screen video player shows natural colors but as soon as the option menu goes the video shows a bluish tint while playing video. What is it?
3. While playing audio thru earphones, audio is interrupting everytime I am using any function of phone. Its like old CD players when the voice used to face hiccups. Its so annoying.
Update : All the above problems have been fixed by Software update. Phone is working fine even after 2 years of rigorous usage.

Will update more ….. (coming soon)
All-in-one … I’m truly in love with this device ! 🙂
Thanks ASUS, WS Retail & Flipkart !
Update 2:
1. 4GB RAM + 2.3 GHz CPU provide excellent multitasking & smooth experience. No lags or stutter.
2. Screen size & resolution is perfect. Splendid app does a great job to keep the display neat & sharp.
3. Superb graphics experience. Played all high graphics games with ease – Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5, NOVA 3, Mortal Kombat X, Shadowgun, Real Racing 3, NFS Most Wanted, Call of Duty Strike Team & Heroes, FIFA 15, Virtua Tennis & lot more … still counting … 🙂
4. Camera app has awesome modes & customizations for every environment & situation. (though image quality could have been better).

Received this phone on 01-07-2015 (64GB variant). After hearing rumours about this phone I was in dilemma whether to buy it or not but using this for last 08 days and here are my reviews
Pros:
1. First of all I want to thank Flipkart for faster delivery.
2. Build Quality of this phone is very good. Body shape is more or less copied form LG G3.
3. Zen UI is faster….no lags at all.
4. This phone is offering 52.4 GB user available storage which is more than sufficient and 4GB RAM which is very useful for gamers.
5. Screen resolution is awesome for this much big screen. I am having one Xperia Z2 also whose x-realty engine is better than zenfone but not having 4G.
6. This phone is capable of awesome fast charging which is only possible if u connect with Asus charger kit. It is getting heat up but if you use normal charger kit of other mobile, it will not get hot. so when ur using it in home charge this phone with other charger kits.
Reply to the Rumours about Zenfone 2
1. It is getting heat up with asus charger kit but if you use normal charger kit of other mobile, it will not get hot. so when ur using it in home charge this phone with other charger kits.
2. Speaker volume Quality is not very good but its OK. Much of the time we listen songs or watching movies we use earphones. These days all are using vibration mode all the time so no need to worry in traffic. Crosstalk is good you can hear or speak clearly.
3. Battery backup is also satisfactory with moderate usage. For me moderate usage means 2hrs of talking, 2hrs of webbrowsing, 1hrs of gaming and watching one movie a day. After all this exercise this battery will last for a day.
DR DIGANTA KUMAR DAS –
Pros : (1) Features documented are lucrative
(2) Music is really awesome. Very very fine quality
(3) Great call quality
(4) Front camera (NOT Back camera) is good for selfie
Cons: (1) Display is ok…
(2) Battery with full charge lasts 5 hours with moderate to heavy use due to newly purchased mobile (With DU battery saver installed). Only net browsing max time. No gaming
(3) Heating issue
(4) Back Camera is a disaster. Its a horrible VGA type. Any cheap mobile within Rs6000 will give better picture than this. Absolutely no details on zooming. Camera hangs many times
13 megapixel camera, pixel master camera bla..bla…all are bait to catch us.
I have seen pictures from other cheap mobiles and it is much better than asus zenfone 2 worth 19999.
(5) Flash is horrible. Makes all picture yellow
(6) Music lags for few seconds every time you press a button to surf the net. Serious lagging issue present. Even outdated OS with 3rd class mobile company also does not have this issue. Music can’t be played together with working with mobile..music always lags
(7) You tube video automatically stops in between many times while playing. You have to repeatedly press the play button. Not only that, video you captured from the phone also lags
(8) Although featured as 4gm ram and powerful processor…. it has serious hanging issues than any other 1gm ram mobile. Ram is always eaten by BIG amount of pre installed apps. Almost 3gb eaten up. So, its a 1gb RAM phone approx
(9) Typing is hell. Every time you try to type fast ..the home key always get touched instead of the space bar…its very annoying
(10) Can not record FM Radio and also FM signals are poor
Overall its a disaster and i am not satisfied..
Go ahead and buy it to know more….
NEW REVIEWS:
29-05-2015
After a recent system update from Asus..the camera picture quality has become much better than earlier. Less grainy and zooming also gives better picture than before. But optimization setting should be at off mode . Dual mode flash still continues to make the picture yellow
8-6-2015
One more recent system update from ASUS made one problem vanish, Now music can be played and side by side net surfing or other works can be done without music lags, which was a major problem earlier. Laging issues reduced.
I have increased one more star in rating it today as ASUS is doing hard to improve the faults. Even samsung gives a damn to customers

Full & Final Review
Its Gone…Yes, My mobile is no more with me. My 20000 rs is wasted. I have taken it on 6 months EMI and even the EMI is not completed and the mobile is no more with me. Its speaker stopped working. Its in Asus repairing center . I have given to the service centre on 3-09-2015 and its still not delivered to me. Its going to be one month now. They said that Asus has spare part problem. Means they do not have spare parts. After that, they pulls me for next week every time i ring or go to them. I have sent mail to Asus directly also but they do not care. After all they have already stolen the money from me and i am no use to them any more. Now i have to buy another mobile and also continue paying EMI for the shit of Asus i have bought.
Finally to all of my friends who are planning to buy Asus. My review may not be at top and may be missed by many, but whoever reading it, be aware before buying it.
Buy Asus only if your money not hard earned or only if you have extra money to be wasted. Good bye to all as this will end my reviews with this scrap and also good bye to Asus ( Even if you are not great in mobile, you are great in fooling people)

nice phone from asus
