Shot some indoor videos recently with it. Had good lighting (which this lens will need) and they came out really well. Got some nice wide angle shots. I could focus while shooting as the subjects were moving a lot and it did a great job of silently focusing and very quickly too. The stepper motor based auto focus works very well. The only time it went out of focus a bit was when I lost foreground subjects in line of view and the background got into focus but that’s mostly my fault. At this price, its the best option if you need a wide angle lens. Keep at f/5.6 or so and have good lighting. ISO 1600 types gives great videos. There is distortion on the edges though but that is expected for such a lens. Nothing out of ordinary.

Good product, build quality is of plastic, but justify the price in which it comes. Low light performance seems to be not that great but otherwise the lens is great and must have.

You cant use it without a good lighting source. Everything else is fantastic. The Stm motor, the auto focus, dual pixel focus, subject tracking, everything as you expect from a canon lens. But its too slow or dark at max aperture of 4.5. if you have adequate lighting, this is perfect for video as well as wide angle photography.

I bought this lens for our office and have been using it for more than a year now. With better optics, I expected it to fill in the range below the kit 18-55 and also improve on its quality. It does the former but the quality is not any better than the 18-55.
It is an essential for our arsenal of lenses as architects but is mediocre for external landscape photography. I would not recommend it unless you’re a property related professional looking for a cost effective lens. If you’re a hobbyist and find the 50prime too narrow try the 24prime and give this one a skip.
verdict- It does its job but doesnt excite anyone.

*This isn’t a product review rather a complaint about the tampered box. I received a re-sealed polybag with an opened taped box inside it. I guess the tamperer thought of it to be a phone and when found it to be a lens, repacked it simply. I still wonder what if it would have been a phone or camera itself. I thought of such news to be fake, but now I believe that such things happen even with the world largest online retail company. I request the authorities to look into this matter.

Product is good. But I cannot register it online in cannon site. The customer care said the product is genuine and I have to register it via calling the cannon service. This is not expected. The product came with -Amazon Fulfilled- tag. So the service should be authentic without any dillema.
The product is working good. A bit of color saturation problem in repeated shuttering (common in cannon, I suppose).

Another relatively cheap yet wonderful lens from Canon. I use a Canon 80D and have been largely limiting my wide angle to 18mm (which actually isn’t wide angle, if you’re using a crop censored camera). I bought this to ‘test the waters’ for landscape photography and I should say, I am quite thrilled by the results
I am mostly photographing either with a 50mm prime or this lens. The wide angle allows you to take completely different perspective, which isn’t possible from a telephoto lens. I have used this lens for time-lapse, star trail photography, etc & the results have been wonderful
This lens is light & easy to carry around. The mount is plastic but at least for now, I don’t see that being a problem. It would have been great if Canon had a metal mount similar to the 50mm prime
So if you are an enthusiast & interested in landscape photography, you would need this lens in your arsenal

This is the go-to lens if you’re a beginner and venturing into the world of ultrawide-angles. The EF-S 10-18 gives the taste of shooting ultrawide at fraction of the price of the legendary L lenses.
Pros:
+Has Image Stabilization (works fantastic) & STM Focusing (superbly silent & smooth)
+Light weight and costs pennies. (Doesn’t translates into being a cheap lens tho)
+Focuses very very close (a boon for creative wide-angle shots)
Cons:
-Narrow apperture limits low-light use (Tokina 11-20 is the go-to for this, but also costs 3-times as much)
-AF Speed is moderate and STM struggles in hazy conditions.
Things to note:
Shooting at 10mm creates a distortion that is the highlight of ultrawide focal lengths and cannot be corrected in post-processing. Take a look at the photos before getting this lens. Ultrawides are not recommended for casual landscape shooting. Get the 24mm focal length lens instead.
