(Achtung M.2 Slot für SSD ist gesperrt vom BIOS beim T40).

Ich habe diesen Rechner als Test System für unsere Software-Entwicklung gekauft.
Unter Linux (Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Server) läuft er problemlos.
Aber der Grund warum ich nun nur 3 Sterne vergebe ist, dass Dell die Festplatten HDD-Einbaurahmen nicht mehr mitliefert (im Gegensatz z.B. zum älteren PowerEdge T20).
Dies ist insofern sehr nervig, da zum Teil auch Nachbaurahmen nicht passen (zu dick und können daher nicht in die Führung geschoben werden) und ich die Preise für dieses kleine Stück Plastik als unangemessen empfinde.
Hinweis: Es gibt aufgrund der Größe nur mehr 3 Stück 3,5 Zoll HDD Einbauplätze, aber dies ist aus den Spezifikationen und Fotos ersichtlich.

Der Dell T40 ist was Preis/Leistung angeht wirklich Top. Für nur 500 EUR erhält man hier professionelle Server-Hardware. Ich nutze den Server in Verbindung mit OpenMediaVault 5.5 und bin sehr zufrieden.
Negativ ist tatsächlich, dass die HDD Einschübe nicht mehr dabei sind und man die Festplatten festschrauben muss. In Korrelation zum Preis kann ich es aber nicht verstehen das man da 2 Sterne abzieht. Wenn ich könnte, würde ich eine halben Sten abziehen, aber der Rest ist einfach zu gut das ich jetzt auf 4 Sterne abrunden würde.
