The product is very appropriate with respect to the municipal water supply (upto 250 TDS). There is no reason why people should consider RO than UV+UF. UV+UF should be the best choice since it purifies the water to the today’s ultimate level without loosing any essential minerals. The best choice !
Coming to the aesthetics, the design is pretty dope. There are no fancy buttons or displays! Only three indicators (Process-yellow, Filter life – Green, Service- Red), at the front there is the water outlet (tap) and nothing else. The device runs on a 12VDC adapter.
Infrastructure wise it needs a workable water connection (i had to take help of a local plumber for a connection to the place where the device is to be installed). Please note that the pressure should be > 50 PSI or >0.3 in the pressure gauge(i forgt the unit) (That will be checked by Eureka Forbes personnel). If pressure is below that please note it will NOT work and a booster pump (100GPD pump will not apply since an extra connection has to be made with LPS inorder to auto-cut the power of the pump when tank is full) has to be installed additionally (Eureka Forbes will install that and will charge Rs.2630 (with tax and everything)). That’s all you need.
The maintenance cost is the same as classic model (Around Rs.2900 (Kolkata) including everything in total for 2 years). Also ensure that you buy a cover for the purifier (Rs.320), it will be provided by Eureka Forbes on request. The service i had from Eureka Forbes is excellent. No complaints simply and it is totally free.
Inside the device mainly there are these things:
1) Basic Filter (finely threaded filter)
2) Carbon cartridge (largr size)
3) Pressure valve (Solenoid valve)
4) Low Pressure Switch (LPS)
5) Carbon cartridge (small)
6) UF cartridge
7) Electromagnetic filter (Mineral guard prevents sedimentation under uv chamber)
8) Stainless steel UV chamber
9) Circuit board
10) Solenoid valve
11) Sensor for water supply check
12) Sensor for water level check in inbuilt tank (5 lit)
13) Water tank (5 litres) (Cl tablet will be provided)
14) Indicators (3)
15) Outlet
16) Booster pump (Rs.2630 in additional)
17) Biotron cartridge (i think its gimmick since it is a hollow cylinder (magnet sort of) and there is no direct connection with the water i.e it fits around the pipe of the last segment with no direct contact with water)
That’s all. Hope it helps! For any questions leave a reply to this message

Taste not good.
Also cockroaches can easily get inside. Have seen small cockroaches lying many times in water inside. Lot of gaps for them to enter inside.
Technician said there is no solution to it. We need to cover all the gaps with tape.

The product arrived on time however it was the installation that becomes a problem. Few helpful tips are included here: :- (a) Only talk to the person who would have been nominated by the company and his contact is included in the email/ SMS. There are loads of spurious callers Eco can charge as much as 2000 for a simple installation (b) Ask for the ID proof (c) Check the inlet pressure and then get advised to install a Pressure Regulator Valve at extra cost of Rs. 1510/- . Else the installation is free even wall mounting.
I have gone for a UV + UF only water purifier with a storage tank after careful consideration. In the market RO filters are now cheaper but the fact is when the municipal water is good and within 200-300 TDS, please don’t go for an RO as it can cause serious consequences to your stomach and health over a period of time. A good UV + UF would cost about 10K. Rest everything in a water filter is excess.
Eureka Forbes because probably it was the first company in India (1980s) into making and marketing water purifier per se and held its market position since though it has a tough competition. Hope they keep the service levels good as that is the only thing that keeps the water purifier going for the purpose it’s there for.
Taste enhancer or alkaline enhancer etc is of little consequence. Good normal water (that should already contain the basic minerals) is just what’s needed. Please stay away from advertising gimmicks.

For some reason, buying a good water purifier has become a marathon exercise with the marketplace filled with terms like “7 stage” “UV” “UF” “RO” “TDS” etc. being used (sometimes carelessly) by brands and meant to confuse users like never before who are already grappling with too many choices in the market. It is true. The market is so lucrative that some typically bathroom-related brands have also entered this space.
Was always clear with the kind of technology that I wanted to go with – a Non-RO one, as I felt there is too much water wastage with an RO purifier. Add to that, a yearly maintenance of 4500 rupees was not something I wanted to sign-up for. The main reason though was that we get corporation water which negates the need to have an RO-purifier. To be absolutely sure though, just have the water from your tap TDS-tested. If it is less than 900, RO is not required for you – that is what I heard at least.
So, the next best bet was “NF” (Nano Filtration) or “UF” (Ultra Filtration). The above alone isn’t enough as either has to be coupled with a “UV” system. After searching for brands on Amazon, I filtered down my choices to two purifiers (this and Havells UV-plus). After a lot of thought, decided to go with Eureka Forbes due to the following reasons:
1. Brand is among the leaders
2. Rated best among all “UV + UF” systems I could find on Amazon
3. Assumption of better service than Havells (as Eureka Forbes is an old timer)
4. Looked Fashionable (I must say Havells one looked equally good if not better in pics)
5. Material mentioned to make purifier was “Food-grade” plastic (Didn’t find this in other places). Steel tank is the best bet.
The downside though was that this was 2500 rupees costlier than Havells purifier. Also for 11K, was getting RO-purifier in other good brands. But nevertheless, as I strictly was not looking for RO, and owing to the above-listed 5 reasons, went with this one.
Happy to report that I wasn’t wrong (at least till now). Delivery was quick. Installation was done on the same day. Prompt calls from customer care were made to me to ensure everything was fine. Warranty generated within a day of delivery. Initial impressions of the product are also +ve. Purifier has storage and automatically fills it up when it senses water level depreciating. Taste of water is also good. Also, 3 services within a year are reportedly free. Must mention that it is advertised as making the minerals in water easier to be absorbed by human body (which I hope is true). This would be any day better than an RO-purifier which reportedly removes good minerals from water.
So, that was the story of my buying experience. Will update if I have any other observations to be made.
