Update-1 Taking away 3 stars and giving only 1 because,

1. Unfortunately the inside part of the plastic lid that catches the steam droplets pass it on to the hollow handle which has the non-insulated wiring and the knob. Wiring gets wet so does the knob. Water runs down straight to the removable base thru the handle giving the impression that kettle is leaking.

2. I dont know whether the inside plastic part of the lid is made of food grade plastic or not. It should have made of the steel to prevent it from contaminating the hot water from plastic fumes. It seems better to remove the lid by unscrewing the handle to prevent the water from entering the electrical wiring! Otherwise someday it gonna burn out!

3, Shape of the inside part of the lid is changing due to hot water! I think it wont remain flat for long time!

4. Base of the steel pot is not thick enough, so during the process of heating it gives weird loud noise that is really disturbing. Essentially its a electric iron mechanism where a concealed heating element is attached to a metal base , so it would have been better if the base was thicker so that there would be no noises during the heating process.

Cons:
1. Kettle was covered with full of dust inside with no plastic bag that covers the kettle inside the box. I hope I am not sold the “refurbished” kettle. Because there are so many returns to Amazon that probability of getting second hand item is much greater nowadays!

2. Removable base cord is short not even 1 mtr! But I use wire extension so it was okay for me!

3. Flap of the kettle doesnt have any arrangement to open it using one hand. You have to use both hands one to hold the kettle and another to open the lock mechanism of the flap. Its a bit irritating.

4. No temperature control knob! (Thermostat). Temperature control knob is really necessary when we want constant and steady temperature e.g. boiling eggs; cooking maggie etc. but in the absence of temp. control it reaches the peak temp. in no time and we have to turn it off.

5. Good ONLY if you wanna use it for travelling or space constraints. If you really wanna use it on regular basis for drinking hot water etc., please buy a larger capacity kettle as it seems inadequate even for 1 person. 1.8 Lt seems perfect for home use!

pros:

1. Brushed steel finish! Electric kettle MUST have a brushed steel finish inside otherwise regular steel gets burnt in the first boiling itself! I had returned Prestige kettle for this reason! You can even cook few items in brushed steel kettle if you are careful! E.g. maggie, boiling eggs, re-heating sambhar/dal, boiling milk etc. But it is not advisable to use it for other than boiling water though.

2. Earthing pin is there in the 3 pin plug! In Bajaj Kettle, there are just 2 pins and earthing pin is removed! Why? They want people to experience electric shocks? weird! I rejected Bajaj kettle only for this reason! YOU MUSH HAVE A 3 PIN PLUG FOR THE ELECTRIC KETTLE especially when the body is made of metal.

3. Perfect size! My previous Prestige kettle was 1.7 ltr! It was too huge to handle! 1Ltr kettle seems perfect for handling, using and in case of travelling its the perfect companion. Dont go for 0.5 ltr or beyond 1 Ltr if you dont need water more than 1 Ltr.

4. Handle, flap, base, indicator all seems okay at this point of time. It has 1 year warranty so lets see.

I will say that this is a good option for just water boiling…..in case of milk or egg it starts burning from the base….
