Had to choose between the Canon Gx7 mark III and this… I’m not into vlogging, primarily photography and I wanted a small (but quality) camera for long trips instead of hauling around my Nikon D850 and assorted lenses.
Given that the Panasonic and Canon image quality is identical, having a 24mm to 360mm optical zoom made the choice easy.
Very happy with the results, and it’s nice to have the 4k video available as well, though not a big priority for me.

I was lured in by the 15x zoom, 1″ sensor, AND a viewfinder in a pocketable camera. Small size is important to me because even a camera with the best image quality does me no good when it’s sitting at home in the closet. I’ve finally got a phone with a camera that I love, but I really want better zoom capabilities. I’ve got an older pocket 20x zoom camera, but it lacks a viewfinder so it’s virtually impossible to use in bright sunlight, especially when zooming in on a subject, and has a small sensor.
Sadly, I’m returning the camera, because at the long end of the zoom, the picture quality is no better or worse than that of my old 18MP camera with a 1/2.3″ sensor. I tried shooting RAW and fiddling with settings, etc., to no avail.
I read reviews that disparaged the lens on this camera, but I was hoping that those reviewers were much pickier about their image quality than me, used less than optimal settings, or had a camera with lens quality issues (also based on reviews, it seemed that there was a chance one might receive a camera with a “bad” lens). Whatever the reason is, I wasn’t happy with image quality.

Camera is my 5th Panasonic travel zoom. Relatively light,excellent zoom & a true jump in low light pics (for me that means indoor with low light). The 1″ chip is a great improvement. Carry 3 batteries for a full day. The view finder and the pop flash are great. Mine came only speaking German! Panasonic & Amazon eventually helped me solve problem.Thanks. Wichita Lawyer.

Zoom is a let down. Hope pics will be a “lot” clearer than they appear when taking photos!
