After doing some research to buy new headphones as my Sony MDR-ZX300 broke, (excellent pair btw) I stumbled upon these Pioneer beauties. Now these are the American version of the standard Pioneer SE-MJ721 as they have the STEEZ branding. They are on-ear headphones but as my ear are minuscule they basically feel like over-ears. Anyways on to the pros and cons.
PROS:
– They look awesome, I haven’t worn them out yet but I know when I do my friends will comment on how great they look great.
– Has a single cord wire not the traditional y-shaped wire. This makes so much easier to take on and off and doesn’t get caught on my clothes
– Very light
– The sound is mind-blowing for the price, I bet if I let people listen to them without telling the price they would think they cost a lot more than their actual price. Bass is what I mostly look for in headphones and these certainly deliver, the 40mm drivers do the job nicely
CONS:
– Yeah it has in-line volume control and mic*, but it’s apple certified meaning it only works with apple products. That said I am able to pause music but can’t resume it on my blackberry (WHY?)
– Although I did say they were light they are also quite tight on the head, also the padding isn’t that soft. To be honest they are quite uncomfortable and I can’t wear them for more than 30 minutes before I have to give my ears a rest
– The headphone jack isn’t L-shaped… This might not be a big problem to most people but the headphone jack is on the side of my phone so it stick out a bit
– The cups where the STEEZ logo is located is made of a glossy plastic = fingerprints
– Would have been nicer if the wire was a little thicker, I’m a bit scared of it breaking
– They leak A LOT. At 50% volume they leaked a considerable amount and at 100% it was like an external speaker
All in all these headphones are a absolute steal for the price (picked mine up for £17 whaaaaat). Look great, sound great but long term comfort may be an issue. If the cons I listed have put you off you may want to check out the Pioneer MJ751 instead. They have 2 drivers!

*only the STEEZ pioneer ones come with the in-line volume controls and mic so be careful WHEN you buy they, coz I know you will.

For the price of these headphones , you really can’t beat them. You can pretty much always rest assured if the pioneer brand is on it, it will be better than average. I use mine for my Kindle Fire HDX , so I can’t make use of the microphone and in-line switches like you can if you have an Apple product , but it still serves it’s purpose. Watching movies now on my Kindle the sound reproduction is excellent . Especially the low low bass notes will just rock your socks . If you don’t want to spend much money and yet still have accurate sound reproduction , and a pretty comfortable pair of headphones, bad these are any of the others in this same model .

PROS:
– I actually went to a store and tested how these headphones sound against Beats and other $99+ headphones. This one sounds just as good if not better than most of them. They render near subwoofer low bass without flinching, the mids and highs are clear. 6Hz to 28KHz range, that’s something!
– Semper fidelis to the Pioneer sound.
– If you need to listen to your music at 1/4 volume level without loss of detail or interference from external noise, these will do the job. That’s in a mildly noisy environment with people talking for example. If you are out in a busy street, you can increase the volume to 1/2 or 2/3 and you should be good to go.
– It sports a microphone. Phone calls are very clear. I use an Android phone , so volume control doesn’t work, but the call/play button does.
– It is versatile. I use it also to monitor guitar recording on my home studio.
CONS:
– Awesome Japanese electronics encased in cheap looking plastic Hasbro toy. Then again, for the sound quality yielded at this price point, I can’t really complain.
– The short brown cord. What were the designer thinking?
– Lack of a 1/4″ adapter.
– They don’t fit that comfortably on my ears, but it’s manageable.
OVERALL:
Go for them. These headphones are not all that judging from the looks, but offer unbeatable value for the price if aesthetics matter less to you than functionality.

They sound as good as many of my pricier headphones. Three of four of my last purchases on Amazon of headphones have been not in the high three figures. But the $40.00 Range. Some of these sub $100.00 range headphones are very good. Not Beats or ATM 50s..Good. But good enough to get more then your moneys worth. These are outstanding headphones with a good soundstage punchy bass and sweet midrange and clear highs. The headphones sound great to me, and I love headphones and probably have enough. But I’ll never have enough. I love music and I love headphones. Music lover.s. Please buy these, they are well worth more than the price.

After reading a lot of reviews, I decided for this headphones and I have to say the soun is pretty good. They isolate the outside noice very well, and the bass is excellent.
The cons is that they are not that comfortable after a while, since they feel a bit strecht or thight, and it’s not like I have a big head lol. You have to get used to them as they press your head or ears.
