I am writing this review after seven days of use. I agree fully with all the favourable comments made by the reviewers here. So instead of repeatation, I like to add some pertinent points I gathered after detailed use of the features of this phone.
Firstly, this phone supports micro SIM slot. So, if you have regular SIMs, you have to take them to a local store who will slit the SIMs’ edges after which these can be inserted into the phone’s SIM slots. Remember if you wish to re-use these SIMs back to other phones not having micro SIM slots, you have to use suitable adapers.
Second, MI’s user interface is far more complex than other stock android phones, and on the first encounter, it might seem baffling. It might take hours of explorings before one can fully master the full control and use it to its full potentials. And yes, after getting the whole hog of it, I pleased to see how it offers user customizations in myriad ways which I never found in the no of devices I have handled. But the fact remains that consumes significant memory level and and I have found it takes at least 800 MB even on stand by.
Thirdly, you cannot transfer data between your PC and phone automatically by using data cable. To use this you have to instal first the MIPC Suite; an installer for this will be found on the phonewhen you connect it to PC.
Now I touch upon the other aspects briefly.
1. Build – good, though back cover feels slippery.4.7\

best phone in its class.
very smooth processing. touch is very good. after updating the phone the heating problem is very less in comparison to redmi 2. 2gb ram is huge for this phone. only 700mb of is used by miui. the rest is more than enough for multi tasking and heavy gaming. lags found in redmi 2 are overcome in redmi 2 prime. no much difference in redmi 2 and prime except ram and internal memory. dont think…….. juz go for it if ur budget is less than 10k. Its perfect for d money paid. worth every penny.

Well, it’s after a thorough (rather long) research, I have finalized on this mobile.
My criteria: 2 GB RAM (to accommodate decent apps as well as good response), good battery, sleek in design and handling as well as top notch Music.
I have figured out below devices for my parameters:
2 GB RAM : Lenovo A6000 Plus / Yu Yuphoria
Good battery : Yu phoria
Sleek design : Lenovo A6000 plus
Good music : Lenovo A6000 Plus
while the other factors on Lenovo was promising, its UI ( i really dont like Vibe UI and its bloatware) and apprehensions on heating issues, I wished Redmi 1s could have 2 GB ram (I own a Redmi 1s as well :)). Well, gods have answered me 🙂
Redmi 2 Prime turned out be a perfect answer for all of my above parameters.
After 3 days of usage, below are my observations :
1. Display – 10/10
2. Touch response – 10/10
3. UI – 9/10
4. Music – 10/10
5. Camera – 7/10
6. Speed – 9/10
7. Loud speakers – 9/10
8. Wifi signal strength – 6/10
9. Battery back up – 9/10
10. Performance – 9/10
Though most of it is highly appreciable, one downpoint i see is weak wifi signal. Keeping both Redmi 1s and Redmi 2 prime side by side, I could see 1 bar less on Redmi 2 prime. otherwise, no qualms. Hope any software upgrade would resovle this weak wifi issue

This is my 1st budget handset bought with the purpose of backup for emergencies. I own a Note 3 at present along with a Nexus 5 and an I-Phone. Man, I am impressed what I have got with the money I paid.
I exchanged an old HTC Wildfire I had lying around which got me 1000 Rupee’s off and also Citiback 10% cashback of Rs 600. Hence, I got this phone for Rs 5400.
As I am writing this review I got this phone today morning and spent almost 2 hours with it. I find no flaws – Bluetooth, Wifi, 4G, Call quality everything is simply top notch. It might lack a little bit on CPU power for very high end android gaming. Apart from that for every other smart phone use it has enough power under the hood. I love the silky smooth feel of the back and the overall finish of the phone. The display is very good and has at par viewing angles. There is a build in color calibration/display warmth tool that lets you further customize. I have been a big fan of MIUI since the beginning when the rom was made and I had used it on my 1st Android device – the galaxy S1. The rom has certainly made the total package of the phone a dream package.
Bottom line is this phone is totally worth every dime I paid. Even if I pay 3-5k more I wont get a similar quality phone by Sammy, LG, Nokia, Sony etc. I love you Mi.

Redmi 2 Prime is what gives the term VFM meaning. Not that Redmi1s and Redmi 2 were not VFM but this one takes it to whole new level offering 2GB RAM with 16 GB onboard storage, dual-sim 4G connectivity and 64-bit chipset.
Ordered the product on 10-Aug under the exchange scheme and 10% cashback with Citibank card and got the product delivered today much ahead of the expected delivery date (19th Aug). So good job flipkart.
Being an Mi3 user, I can say this product will definitely meet a regular user’s expectation easily.
It has the Snapdragon 410 , which I know for sure is one of the better mid-range chipset from Qualcomm unlike the 615 which has heating issues. No doubt why may OEM’s are going for this chipset for their mid-range 4G handset offerings.
It is very power efficient (great battery life) and the audio DAC it comes with gives very good sound output through the head-phones. I have tested the sound quality myself with the Rightmark Audio Analyzer and believe me it’s great. You can refer to the Redmi 2 review on gsmarena.com for a word on its sound quality.
I can’t say this about my Mi3 (Snapdragon 800) in which the frequency response which has a cutoff at bass frequencies.
In a day’s use, I have not come across any drawbacks and hope it stays that way.
To summarize, I can only say go for it if you want something under 7K! It’s totally worth it.
