(A) The Frame TV :-

PROS:
1. Amazing picture quality and smooth motion rendering.
2. Dimensions and matte display makes it look like a piece of Art and stands out amongst all other TV in General.
3. Easy on the eyes and enhances the viewing experience due to the Matte display which reduces glare and reflection of lights on the screen.
4. Received free Teak finish bezels which adds to the beauty of The Frame.
5. Tizen UI is fairly smooth, I’d say much much better than the Google TV UI in terms of lag issues and stutters. Although, Google TV has a better curated list on the Hub.
6. Being a QLEd, the blacks are really deep. Also, haven’t experienced any dirty screen effect and the greys are uniform.
7. The Intelligent Mode and Auto Brightness Reduction adjusts the brightness of the screen according to the lighting conditions which is a boon if you watch TV at night in a dark room. Traditional TVs require you to keep adjusting the brightness. But the Frame does it all for you intelligently.
8. The remote is also unique and one of its kind. No need to open, put batteries and replace them every now and then. It has inbuilt battery which you can charge with type C charger or just turn it over and the solar panel would charge it using your indoor lights.

CONS/OMISSIONS:
1. It’s delicate. You need to handle it with care. I have provided the cleaning instructions at the end.
2. Samsung could have made a 120Hz panel for 43inch size. Would have been a delight playing games on it .
3. Lack of Dolby Vision. Although, I like Samsung’s “Film Maker” mode under the picture settings which makes the OTT content more cinematic and engaging to watch.

(B)SAMSUNG INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE:-

1. Although, Samsung customer care called immediately after delivery, but the installation guys came an hour late from the scheduled time.

2. The 2 guys didn’t seem at all professional. They didn’t seem to have pen/markers to put marks for wall mount. Instead they scrapped marks on my TV cabinet’s sunmica with the sharp end of the screws. Upon questioning they said “arey Sir, yeh toh TV se chhup jayega”

But anyhow that doesn’t give them the right to scratch and scribble on the furniture causing permanent damage.

3. They did not wear any latex work gloves to handle the TV and mount it. As a result they made horrible marks on the matte display of the TV. And in a bid to clean it they even made the marks worse .

4. They also asked me to show the OTP message for service completion, they took a picture of it with their phone. Later when I tapped on the link to leave installation feedback, it showed that they had given 5 stars rating to themselves. Such cheats. They took a photo and later must have typed and opened the feedback link and gave 5 stars to themselves.

5. Upon complaining to the Samsung Helpline they said thank you for your feedback, we’ll make sure to improve our services in future. That’s it.

6. Moreover upon asking them how to clean the fingerprints they didn’t have any knowledge or instructions on the Samsung India website and asked me to clean it with a cloth. Which was of no help. Read below to know why .

(C) CLEANING TIPS:-

After seeing various customer reviews on how the matte screen got spoilt by cleaning and using glass cleansers and screen cleaners, I got scared and almost assumed that my TV will meet the same fate.

However, upon searching on the net, I came accross special cleaning instructions on Samsung US website specifically for The Serif and The Frame 2022 TVs with matte finish . Also, the same was confirmed by several users on Reddit. Microfiber alone won’t clean it. (Check the screenshot of cleaning instructions from the Samsung US website attached)

Here’s how you can clean off the fingerprint smudges and other spots from The Frame’s display:

What you’ll need : (pic attached)

1. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Original one.
2. Microfiber Cloth 340 GSM
3. Distilled Water
4. Spray bottle.

Procedure:

1. First removed as many spots as you can by rubbing dry Magic Eraser over the smudges.

2. Wipe with a Microfiber Cloth thereafter in circular motions.

3. For the tough smudges and leftover marks, spray distilled water a couple of times onto the microfiber to slightly dampen it.

4. Then gently stroke the damp microfiber over the smudges (small area at a time), then immediately rub a dry Magic Eraser over those areas (while still wet) and finally wipe over with a dry microfiber.

All the smudges shall go away. It’ll take some time , but I’ll be worth it.

To be honest, initially I was scared of scratching the screen with the Magic Eraser, but nothing of that sort happened.

Trust me, Magic Eraser works like a charm on the 2022 Frame TV with matte screen and it’s the only solution to clean it .
