This is no doubt a very compact design. Easy to carry, C-type supported and somewhere budget friendly also, But the transfer speed is not that good as compare to other SSD.

I use a Windows PC for gaming and Macbook Pro 16 for moving files around.
I bought this drive to serve both of those systems. Here are my thoughts:

    – It’s pretty compact in size. As big as a debit card and as thick as 4 cards approx. Comes with a type-c to type-c and a type-c to type-a cable. Both cables are short and rated as USB 3.2 Gen 2. For an SSD that costs ₹17,000, that’s expected.
    – Although I would really appreciate it if Samsung included a case for the drive and cables, what they’ve already provided is just fine.
    – Check for photos compared to my mouse and keyboard.

    Windows (core i7, 16GB 3200 MHz, GTX 1080) :
    – Check photos for windows speeds benchmarks and copying a file.
    – My Windows PC doesn’t have a type-c connector, let alone 3.2 gen 2. I am having to restrict the drive to be used in the USB 3.0 configuration. Results, you ask? Well, the read and write speeds are hampered severely. While the disk management test shows close to 500 Mbps, I actually got ~320Mbps while copying a big file to the drive and back.
    – While gaming, I tested Witcher 3, Metro Exodus, Borderlands 3, Batman Arkham Knight, and Horizon Zero Dawn (PC). Every game had practically 1-2 seconds of load time. Not more. All except Horizon Zero Dawn (which is not optimized for SSD on a PC as of August 2020).

    MacBook Pro 16″ macOS:
    – My Macbook Pro though, that’s a completely different story. The Macbook Pro 16 utilizes the Thunderbolt 3 protocol and scales the USB 3.1/3.2 gen 1/2 inside itself. I’m using a paid version of Microsoft’s NTFS for Mac so I can use this drive back and forth. On the macOS, not just the speed test was closer to 1Gbps, even the copying speed was the same (from and to the drive). I copied an almost 15 GB file in less than 15 seconds.
    – I don’t do any R/W heavy tasks on my Macbook apart from transferring files here and there. So copying/pasting is probably the only thing I’ll use this drive for Macbook and it performs phenomenally.
    – Check photos for macOS speeds benchmarks and copying a file, and I gotta say, this is where it shines.

    Conclusion:
    – The price is pretty steep for the drive so your decision to get it or not should depend on whether you have the right system that utilizes the right protocol or not.
    – If you don’t have the USB 3.2 Gen 2, there are other better SSD alternatives. Like Seagate One Touch, or any USB 3.0 SSD for that matter. It’ll cost much cheaper, technically should provide you the speed your PC is at and reasonably high speeds.
    – If you have a compatible device, a deep enough pocket, and if you need such speeds then definitely go for it.

    PS:
    – Amazon, WTF is wrong with you people? I buy a ₹17,000/- product and you cannot package it decently?
    – The SSD box was crushed while shipping. What in the crap do you think justifies shipping delicate products like these without a box and then ship freaking body lotion in thick boxes?
    – I’ve attached pictures, please don’t repeat this mistake. FU, correct this nonsense.

Fortunately, the hard drive wasn’t damaged and even the seal was intact. So I cut off only one start.

The drive is fast, I use it with a MacBook Pro and it gives me anywhere between 700-750 Mbps write speed, the read is about 4-5% faster than that. I mostly use the C to C cable it came with. Yes, it does get warm to the touch with continued and heavy usage but not hot. When used in warm weather or with continued usage the speed drops about 5-6%. But it can handle, 4k60fps editing with ease even when it is 930Gb full. I also run Parallels on my device with this drive and have some games on it too.
When not used for about 30 sec, it cuts off read and write, which is visible by the light on it, increasing the drive’s longevity.
It has a metal body and a nice finish, it can easily fit in bags or pockets and is very lightweight.
The USB-C cable it comes with is 18 inches, but it is a bit thick and difficult to bend you can go for a braided high-speed cable for that.
If you encrypt the disk using the Samsung app, then the other devices you use it on must have that app to unlock it, hence the encryption won’t be useful if you want to use it with your television or want to connect it to your router and make a server.
The app is available for all common platforms, Android, Windows, and Mac but not for ios(iPhone and iPad), hence if you are an iPhone or iPad user then you might consider that, but this does work with iPad Pro.
I have the black version which is not perfectly black more like the space grey of Mac, which matches both my phone and laptop’s color, but I think blue would look even better hence, you can choose according to your device.

U ll love it the way it looks and feels but when you look at speed it is no where close to what they are claiming but a little bit higher initially than HDD and after 15 minutes or so it is not maintaining that and falling to even less than an HDD.
ATTACHED PHOTO IS AFTER 30 MINUTES OF TRANSFERS WHICH IS CLOSE TO A SADDENING 50MBPS…
    LOOK AND FEEL: MUAAAAAHS
    TRANSFER SPEED: DISAPPOINTED 🙁

Ipad pro 3rd gen can detect the drive but only for few seconds and then the connected drive disappears. 2tb variant can not be used on ipad pro 3rd gen.
To solve the issue format the drive in exfat though already in same format but after formatting ipad supports the drive

    Hi guys,
I purchased this ssd 3 or 4 months ago. After using it for this 3 4 months I can say it’s a really good ssd. I have a MacBook Air it works really fine but the Samsung ssd app doesn’t work I don’t know why but it doesn’t detect the ssd even it’s plugged in.
I tested it in 3 file systems.
    1. APFS
With APFS we can backup the data using time machine of MacBook. And I got transfer rate around 963MBps that’s very good.
    2. NTFS
I got data rates around 950MBps close to APFS. I don’t use windows so I just tested it with my friends computer.
    3. Exfat
Exfat was designed by Microsoft to transfer files between Mac’s and windows and Ubuntu or any Linux system. I use exfat because I have to work with Ubuntu pop os and sometimes windows and the data rates on Mac with exfat is around 953MBps.

So if you want to transfer huge data files and you need to install virtual machines then this ssd is very good, if you don’t need too much speed then You can go with the previous generation of this ssd of you found it more affordable.
