If you are buying this because of Work from Home and you are after a headset that you can comfortably wear for more than 8 hours a day, this is actually pretty good. However, it turned out to be totally useless out of the box because the plug is the huge one for connecting to amplifiers and cannot plug into a laptop/PC without an adaptor. As I said, caveat emptor if you reason for buying is for WFH.

EDIT:
These are the most disappointing headphones that I have used. The sound is too bassy and slightly muddy and not the balanced dark sound that I was expecting from Sennheiser. These headphones don’t even qualify as entry-level audiophile headphones.
Also my original 2.5mm to 6.3mm cable was chewed by my cat so I ordered a 2.5mm adapter to use. Turns out that I can’t use the adapter because Sennheiser has a special grove on their 2.5mm end which allows it to be plugged into the headphones. So the only replacement cable you can use is Sennheiser’s proprietry cable which is out of stock in India.
Sennheiser has overdone themselves by making the worst designed headphones I have seen and I am never going to buy another one of their products. They have lost a long time customer by putting zero thought into the design of their headphones in the past few years.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Received the product today and I was horrified at how uncomfortable the headphones are. I saw several YouTube reviews and user reviews for this product all praising the comfort of the headphones but I have no idea how anyone can call these headphones comfortable and what kind of head torture devices they were using before.
The clamping force is okay but the earpads are rough and hard and barely provide any cushioning. I am baffled by how Sennheieser keeps making such poorly designed headphones. The higher the price, the lower the comfort. I am currently using the Sennheiser HD 350BT and was disappointed with that headphones because the earpads have very narrow space inside and don’t fully enclose anyone’s ears (except children). However those headphones are MUCH more comfortable than these Sennhiser HD 559.
You also get only a 2.5mm to 6.3mm cable (again a genius decision…not) which normal users won’t be able to use. I assumed that it was a 3.5mm to 6.3mm cable so I bought a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to use instead. Now I found out that it’s actually a 2.5mm plug in the headphones so I’ve ordered a converter from Amazon now.
I can’t comment on the sound until I get the converter. Hopefully I won’t be disappointed by the sound at least. Sadly I can’t return this product and have to get used to the horrible comfort or maybe replace the earpads with something else(again, more expenditure).

Sounds extremely muddy and just significantly worse than my Audio-Technica AT-M40X

For –
1. Staging – these headphones have excellent staging and you can easily distinguish each sound and location
2. Clarity – Pump them at high volume without distortion. They are rated for 50ohm impedance, I’m driving them from computer’s audio port so far no issues
3. Build Quality – These headphones are comfortable. The band is sufficiently padded and the pads are of good quality. It rests on top of your head and clamps around ears comfortably.
4. Open Back – Don’t buy these headsets if you want to maintain your privacy. You can easily hear people around you and others can hear what you are listening to. But when it comes to content consumption the sound is natural and not forced. You can hear ceiling fan, your family, outside traffic, and in-game dialogues clearly at the same time
Against:
1. Bass – If you want to feel your skull vibrating, these are not for you. The bass is ok to good for daily use. In games sounds. You will need some tuning to get the air vibrating around you
2. No inline mic
Murmer –
A lot of headphones give me a headache or cause issues with my ears. Since I wear glasses, anything that forces the glasses against my head is awful.
Adding onto that, a lot of noise cancelling earphones give me a tendancy to yell more. Not good for streaming late at night with a sleeping husband in the next room.
These ones let me be aware of my surroundings while also listen to whatever I’m doing in great comfort.

Need amplifier to boost the signals.
After which we can hear pure sounds.
Mids & Treble sounds great.
Bass had little roll off bit undistinguishable in the sound separation.
Best for watching movies with good quality audio track. For songs, again it depends on the audio file quality/compression.
Since it’s Open back, the sound staging is wider & best to listen hifi recordings ☺

I bought these for my wife who plays an electric piano regularly. She says that they are very comfortable and that the sound reproduction is superb, better than the speakers on our Kawai CA99 piano.
