These sound so natural and clear. Upgrading from my ATH-M50x I was prepared to be “let down” in that I had read these headphones are much more balanced and not as hyped which is completely true. However they are so much more comfortable, you feel like you are really listening to the music clearly with no brittle quality. These are amazing headphones worth the investment.

I honestly wanted to get a pair of the HD650s since a very long time but due to their availability issues and high price I could not but then I saw them selling for approx INR 22000, I literally jumped at them, lol. I am no headphone reviewer or even an audiophile, I do podcasting & some casual voiceovers and for those applications I think these are prob one of the best headphones you can get, they are reference for a reason, the neutrality is good, some mids definitely but they are not overpowering or unpleasant, the bass is controlled, the highs are unoffencive, these are just so good for the price! A word of caution however, that these are open back headphones so if you are consuming or creating content in a noisy environment these might not be your best bet, for general consumption if u are someone who likes an open back design and relatively flat sounding headphones, this is the pair to go for, for critical listening in a non noisy environment, go ahead no problems, however if u want a closed isolated sound for monitoring or mixing, look at closed back headphones as they offer better isolation. One more thing about the 650s is that these are 300 ohm impedance headphones so your phone or tablet or computer might not be able yo provide sufficient power yo drive these and u might experience low output at even full volumes, so make sure you have a nice audio interface or a DAC AMP which can provide enough juice to drive these. The design on the HD650s is really good, the pads are comfortable, the cushioning on the headband is enough for most people, they look good, they sound even better! So if you really have a suitable application for these headphones, don’t think much, just go for them! A bug thumbs up to Sennheiser! And Double thumbs up to the HD650s!!

Inimaginável a qualidade sonora. Você ouve as músicas que ouviu durante a vida inteira e as redescobre através deste fone. 5 estrelas!

Nothing to nitpick for the sound, even on onboard ALC or USB powered DAC. Although the comfort is not as good as HD598. The stock wires are heavy, plus the HUGE 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter, its really uncomfortable, even just slighly turning the head the wires will rob against yourneck, add to the fact each cup has its own wire conncted; The worst part is the wires splitting is too short! I believe not just me but almost everyone will feel constraint or tie up by the heavy and cummber sone wires. The other is not a big issue but HD598 is just too comfy! the HD650 by comparison, has way more clamping force on the head–maybe its new and I’m used to HD598 for 7 years.

NO regret for the sound and price, highly recommended. although as an Audiophile, I will certainly have to spend more for the Amp and other accessories, to justify the legend or hear its true potential.

BTW, shipping + delivery took ONE day! kudos to STEREO THE HEADPHONE CONCEPT STORE, their service standard is as good as Amazon.

This is one of the best headphones, but don’t buy it if you don’t know what this is for.
    1. This is an open-back headphone. Meaning that, this headphone doesn’t have Noise cancellation (active or passive). You can hear everything that’s happening around you (you can even hear the fan or AC sounds) and everyone can hear what song you are playing. You need a quite place to perfectly enjoy this headphone. But what you get is awesome soundstage, crystal clear vocals and exact reproduction of the studio recording.

    2. You don’t get wireless/Bluetooth (because we know that wireless tech is not yet at par with the bitrate that a simple cable can transfer, in fact, Wireless is too far behind). And you get a very long, very wide and very heavy cable with this headphone. But don’t take this the wrong way, the cable is strong and quite sturdy.

    3. You don’t get mic to use for calls. This headphone is not meant for that.

    4. You can’t use this directly with your mobile/PC/laptop (3.5mm jack or even the usb-to-3.5mm adapter). You can surely attach it, but without a proper AMP/DAC, the sound volume will be so feeble, low and lifeless that you would regret buying this ‘expensive’ headphone. You need something like a iFi AMP/DAC stack, or a Schiit Magni/Modi stack or something similar (I am suggesting budget options, of course you can opt for more expensive setup). This headphone NEEDS an AMP, and believe me when I say this, you need some powerful AMP to drive this headphone (meaning, utilize to it’s full potential).

    5. This headphone is not portable (of course you can take this anywhere, but that’s not what I mean). You need a setup (desktop/laptop with a AMP/DAC setup, good Hi-Resolution files or Hi-Res streaming service like Apple lossless or Tidal and a quite place to enjoy this). This is not a headphone you take on the bus/train/flight/playground/to sleep/class etc.

So, final words, if you don’t know what the words “Studio monitors/Reference Class” on this headphone mean then it’s not for you. Studio professionals/music producers/good youtubers will appreciate this headphone. And I am none, but I am enjoying this headphone so much that I wouldn’t want to go back to anything else.
I use this with an AudioQuest Dragonfly Red and the sound is simply out of this world.

When you buy a headphone, you buy it by review and brand . I have firm belief that most of the you cannot go wrong with sennheiser. 650 is sennheiser high end hp. Since it is at discount I ordered it. I opened the box, build is good. It is not heavy and feels very comfortable. Now sound, sound is flat yer very musical. The song instruments vocals are exactly as it is . Nothing overpowering ,everything is slightly mellowed hence it sounds sweet . There is no drama . It is serene sound ,you can listen for hours without fatigue. Also I noticed that you will not feel the speakers of headphone you just hear the song , natural soundstage . One more distinctive feature is you feel the emotions in the voice of singer as it presents the song in all its natural state. I have M50x, 598, R70x etc all are excellent but this 650 is mellowed and sweet. I think it is perfect for listening old hindi film songs. Lata sounds amazing and full of emotions and sweet. Yes sound is perfectly clear and transparent. If you are basshead and like punch, it is not for you. If you want musical mellowed sweet sound and like relaxed and leasure listening, 650 is high on my list. It is made in Austria. Yes, you can listen direct from your mobile !
