I’ve used Butterfly and Pigeon gas stoves before and the former ran well for years before we finally had to change it at home. Back then, they made products that lasted long with consistency.

The Pigeon gas stove I used was a pain right from the beginning. It wasn’t consistent; sometimes we had trouble igniting the burners, then there was gas leakage from the knobs and many times the flame went out automatically and put our lives at home at huge risk! It was high time we replaced it with a reliable gas stove but the evolved, glass-tops were never my priority for obvious reasons; glass breaks and it is hard to maintain without damaging it while cleaning.

So my days of research on the Internet on things to consider while buying a gas stove gave me enough knowledge on the same. I wanted a reliable gas stove with Stainless Steel construction and good Brass burners; not Aluminium burners.

Philips, Gilma, Pigeon, Sunflame and several other names came right on the top of the search results and were all good brands but brand doesn’t always define it’s quality. Pigeon left a bad taste in my mouth, Philips service truly sucks and they were playing mostly with Glass-tops and were expensive also. Gilma is pricey. I wanted to give Sunflame a try because it had good reviews for gas stoves and it was in my budget and seemed to meet all my requirements.

Now that I’m using this Sunflame gas stove, here is my review.

    PROs
    ————
    – The burners ignite like charm.
    – Sufficient spacing between each burner for moderately sized utensils.
    – Utensils with round / curved bottom sit properly on the stand above the burners.
    – All the burners work well even when ignited at the same time.
    – Gas line connector is at the rear end of the stove and not at the bottom.
    – Brass burners.
    – Stainless Steel body.
    – Looks decent.
    – Easy to install.

    CONs
    ————
    – The guage of the Stainless Steel body should have been better.
    – Every plate and stand around the burners were bent on arrival and the utensils keep rocking to one side or the other while in use when if you touch it.
    – Not suitable for heavy duty work at all. The stands take very less weight and are not designed to handle heavy cooking because they go out of shape easily!
    – Sharp edges at the bottom that can cut your fingers if you aren’t careful while trying to clean the stove.
    – The pipes that the burners are attached to can be easily bent and go out of shape.
    – Films knobs. One of the knobs had already fallen down inside the box and the tiny sticker on it had come off. I glued it back myself.
    – If there is a spill on the stove while cooking, you have to take out multiple individual parts such as plates in order to clean it. Time consuming.
    – No large burner available that’s capable of spreading out the flame over larger based utensils. All burners seem near identical in size but vary slightly when you ignite them.
    – The distance between the knobs and the front burners is less and it will be hard to turn the burners off in case there is spilling in process. This wasn’t the case with the other stoves I have used in the past.
    – Glossy Steel body instead of Matte finish. Hard to keep it shining for long time.
    – Price should have been lesser considering what I have analyzed from the product at hand.
    – Manual ignition only.

How long it would last is something I cannot imagine and only time will tell.

    Used for past 8 months
    Cons:
2 of the burners (left most and second from right) have become very tight in the course of operation.
The pan support (black color) is not balanced and pots not get fully stable on it. It does not minimize the flame to the full extent resulting in more gas consumption and inefficient cooking.
    Pros:
No leakage in gas piping observed so far
Gas stove base is stable (not see-saw observed so far)
Occupies lesser space compared to other sunflame 4 burner models (good for me as I have less space in kitchen)
    Cleaning is easy

Not as expected. It is very light in weight. The stove moves inward when trying to switch on the knob by pressing it. The stands are very light and not heavy at all. Not worth buying. I have stainless steel 2 burner stove which is 3 times heavier than this 4 burner model.
