If you don’t mind sharing your information and life choices with Microsoft it’s probably a decent computer. Not for me , when I buy something I expect to be able to use it like I want to and not be FORCED to use a corporate software that requires an account. NO THANKS, there’s enough intrusion into our personal lives without giving up more freedom to choose.

too much money for no touch screen

This laptop has a tendency to overheat but manageable. Otherwise, this is a good machine.

I’m extremely happy w/ this purchase! The laptop is fast and not too heavy. The keyboard is comfortable and the screen resolution is good. I hesitated on this purchase b/c of some comments about overheating and battery life, but it doesn’t get any hotter than any other laptop I’ve used, the battery life is adequate, and it charges quickly. I really don’t think I could have found a better Windows 11 laptop at this price point.

I purchased the Acer Aspire 5 (A515-56) because I wanted a laptop to ‘practice’ using and modifying Windows 11 before I updated other computers within my LAN. I took advantage of the cheap price to upgrade the Windows 11 ‘Home Version in S mode’ to ‘Pro’ via the Microsoft Store ($99).
It took a bit of research in order to get some things running, but generally I’m very pleased. My old version of Office 2010 installed and works, I even found a way to get Sid Meier’s Gettyburg (circa 1997!) up and running. I also installed Openshell to give me a Windows 7 style start menu.
Only four stars because of the work I had to research and perform in order to create what is now a 5 star computer.
