I got this on sale as a gift for my mom. Her use case probably doesn’t need this much power, but I wanted something with a decent build quality at least. As I was setting it up for her, it felt like the ssd was fine if not a LITTLE bit sluggish, but that’s probably me being a nerd. Anyway, she loves it, so I’m okay with the purchase overall.

I make my $$$ on UNIX/Linux OS and own a Macbook Pro M1 Max. But for work I am stuck with a $1,300 Blotware WinDOZ PC so I need a test laptop for testing VMplayer and VirutalBox which I use to do my job. This little cheap test laptop ran both VMplayer and VirtualBox at the same time both running their unique installs of Mint 21 and Rocky 9 linux. The AMD CPU is good enough.

I’m making this review less than one week after receiving this product.
So far all I’ve done is install chrome and use the edge browser. On both browsers, videos from youtube become jumbled messes and stutter. Sometimes the screen goes black, then the video is fine. Other times it continues to stutter, even after refreshing the page.
By far the worst thing about this laptop is that it shuts itself down. Multiple times I have left my laptop either open or closed, and come back to it being powered down. I looked in the power options but I can’t find anything that would cause this, since the battery was almost fully charged the last time it happened.
Beside these problems, though, it seems great.

I got this laptop for a great price on Prime Day. I am very impressed with how much Acer has grown to be a respectable PC brand. This laptop is very good for all the usual tasks (Browsing internet/streaming content). It’s also a decently powerful gaming laptop. It’s surprisingly fast. It’s also a good size (14″). I have grown weary with 15″+ laptops. Anyways, I do have one complaint, and it’s not specific to Acer or this laptop in particular. I hate how companies put these ugly stickers on the laptop (usually bellow the keys), that never seem to come off smoothly. This laptop in particular has a very tacky ‘1080P’ sticker on the bottom of the bezzle which was very hard to remove. It left white, sticky residue.
