    This monitor is amazing out of the box. Has a opening in the middle of the monitor to organize your wires through it. The light underneath the monitor when all the lights are turned off in the home gives it a very nice effect of immersion, and a nice touch to looking cool. As far as the lights goes they give you an extra ROG Swift projector lens, as well as 4 blank lenses you can write on and create your own lens. This is a TN monitor so the colors aren’t as vibrant as an ISP monitor, but playing with the settings to your liking, and running off colors from your graphics card rather than default, fixed that issue. It has different modes for different video game genres, but you’re going to end up choosing one, then playing with the, contrast, brightness, saturation, gamma, ect. Took me some time to adjust everything to my liking. Comes with a display cable and an HDMI cable, do not buy this product if you don’t have a display port on your computer, because you won’t get the 240hz that you pay for. Now performance in game is amazing, it’s mainly made for CSGO, Overwatch, Quake Champions, arcade competitive games. Will obviously also work on MOBAS perfectly fine, but the reason why I list these games as examples is because you would need 240FPS or higher in order to fully use the 240hz to the full potential. Now one feature I was impressed with is the GSync for this monitor, with GSYNC you don’t have to manually change the refresh rate for each game, GSYNC does the work for you. Very nice feature. The main reason I give this monitor a 4 out of 5, rather than a 5 out of 5 is because there are definitely other monitors out there that are perfectly fine for modern day gaming, I would say this is overkill for a monitor, but this product is very new, future proof because I would imagine 240hz would be a thing in the later future. I think the price mark set at $$450-$500 would’ve been better for what I’ve seen with it as a TN monitor, but overall its a great monitor and I would definitely recommend buying it if you got the cash to spend

    Long Story Short: Not worth it.
    Why?
    1) Not IPS (it makes a huge difference).
    — Yes, I know it says on it but people praised this thing like it was some type of God like monitor. I thought I would give it a try for $500 a piece, and got 3.
    2) Picture Quality of a $100 monitor
    3) Too much blue light output. Headache after a few hours, and literally wearing glasses now after having these monitor for like 4 months.
    — Yes I know I can turn it down, and did it from day one.
    — Sure, it could be something else but every time I’m using my old monitors (ASUS 60 Hz IPS) I’m fine, and when I use these new ones for like a few hours I get a headache. (No, I’m not switching back and forth, it’s like using 1 monitor for 7 days, then the old one for 7 days)
    4) Most games can’t output 240 fps, neither can most computers.
    — My computer specs:
    * Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz
    * RAM 64.0 GB DDR-4
    * SLI 2x EVGA RTX 2080 SUPER
    * ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX FORMULA Motherboard
    * Samsung 9700 PRO M.2
    * OS: Windows 10 Pro
    Non Important Items:
    — Razer Huntsman Elite Keyboard (The latest one with Red Switches)
    — Razer Naga Trinity Mouse
    — Got Thermaltake case with 16 Fans (8 on top and 8 on the bottom), 1 10″ Fan in the front, and 2 small ones in the back (it’s cooler inside my case than in my house)
    — And these monitors obviously
    4) P.S> Yes, you can see the mouse difference, but I’m not buying a $500 monitor to look at the mouse.
    Games, I’ve tested it on with Maximum and Lowest Qualities:
    1) Black Desert Online (~ 144-160 FPS)
    2) Guild Wars 2 (~ 60-100 FPS)
    3) World of Warcraft (~80-120 FPS)
    4) Overwatch (~100-160 FPS)
    5) Counter-Strike (~100-220 FPS)
    — Probably one of the only game it’s worth it to be honest.

    Overall, I’m not bashing on Asus, because I’m a HUGE Asus & Razer fan. Everything I buy if I can it’s from Asus & Razer. This monitor is just not worth the money. I know most people I talk to don’t have super computers, and buy the monitor with the illusion that it will make their gaming better, and I’m sure one day these will be worth it. But currently, if you are reading all these reviews thinking “Man, that looks really good, but should I spend $500 on monitor?” STOP, because that’s what I did, and here I am trying to save others from making the same mistake.

    Good things:
    1) You can see the mouse at 240hz that you can tell the diference
    2) It looks cooler than most monitors
    3) You can move the monitors around, up and down, flip it vertically, etc.

    My Recommendation:
    Look for a 144hz Monitor, IPS, with Good Picture quality. If your computer can sustain it, I would go for 4k.

    Now this product price is less compare to previous prices. Compare to market price, it’s little bit higher but as a trusted platform, this price is ok.

    Fantastic!

    Not only did Amazon Warehouse Deals pull through in delivering a product that appears to be brand new, it was listed as “Very Good” condition with only damages to the box being the issue, but the monitor itself is in flawless working condition. Since it was delivered yesterday I have thrown a number of games at it including: Overwatch, Battlefield 1, Hitman: Season One, Aliens Vs. Predator, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Team Fortress 2, and Dishonored.

    What I can say is that the 240hz refresh rate is no joke, if you have the CPU / GPU setup to reach the particular ceiling that this GPU sets then you are in for a treat! I was not hitting 240 FPS in Overwatch, but my i7-7700k, EVGA 1080Ti FTW3, and 16GB of DDR4 ram was getting up to about 220 and fluctuating down to about 170 while I was playing. The smoothness of the gameplay is the major selling point here, and coming from a 144hz monitor there is a noticeable change when going to 240hz; not major, mind you, more so a quality of life improvement that just makes aiming a little more precise / smooth.

    Having watched a number of youtube reviewers of this monitor espouse that it is not really a necessary purchase, but more so a tool for pro gaming and people who are possibly too serious about their online FPS games holds some salt in my time with the monitor so far. The colors are great, definitely washed out a little with the brightness / gamma settings that come pre-set with the monitor, and the overall clarify is what you would expect for a Full HD 1080p monitor that is 24.5″. Comparatively speaking, having used Dell’s 27″ 1440p / 1ms / Gsync monitor prior to this makes it somewhat hard to make the leap back to 1080p, but given the screen real estate you’re given to operate with on the PG258Q it is not a major setback.

    My real reason for getting this monitor was to enjoy the performance boost of gaming at 1080p and not having to contend with the faster depreciation of my hardware as a result of sticking with either 2K or 4K visuals. My humble opinion, I still think we are a little ways off from having super smooth gaming experiences at those resolutions without having to dial back certain graphical settings to get there. That was something I found myself having to do more often than not, even with a 1080Ti at 1440p, and that was not sitting well with me given how long it has been since I’ve owned a gaming PC. This time around I wanted to make sure that I could game at very high to ultra settings and this ASUS monitor can make that happen easily!

    In closing, 240Hz / 240 FPS for most games is not a realistic or achievable goal with this monitor. You would most likely have to be running an SLI setup of some kind using multiple state of the art GPUs to make that happen. That said, when playing at 1080p and using a modern Intel processor coupled with a GTX 1080Ti, you can make magic happen with this monitor – even if you’re not hitting that high FPS ceiling cap. Due to the high cost of this monitor I would recommend taking a gamble on an Amazon Warehouse Deal and try to secure one that is listed as “Very Good”.

    This is for the ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q 24.5″ Gaming Monitor written on 11/25/2019
    Pros:
    – High Refresh Rate (240hz)
    – 1080p resolution
    – G-sync (no tearing baby!)
    – Plenty of settings for image customization
    – Built in “game plus” features (crosshair that you can reposition, timer, fps counter, and display alignment)
    – VESA mount compatible (monitor/wall stands)
    – Includes all cables

    Cons:
    – None yet

    Thoughts:
    First, I want to talk about why I personally opt for this type of monitor over others. You can skip to the next paragraph for my in depth thoughts on this particular one. I am primarily a PC gamer who plays first person shooters, and I want a solid image at high speeds. I opt for 1080p 240hz on a 24.5″ monitor because at 24.5″ the pixel density allows for a very clean image, 1080p lets games run at much higher frame rates at peak performance, and 240hz keeps the image from tearing at those high frame rates. Why don’t I like gaming in 4k? Simply because of how heavily it impacts performance, and honestly doesn’t look much better than 1440p on these sized monitors. In addition to FPS’s, I also play a lot of 3rd person action adventure games, RPGs, and Racing games. This monitor archetype is great for my preferences, though some may have other needs, like the increased fidelity of an IPS panel for editing in addition to gaming. For those, I would look elsewhere, but if you are looking for an extremely good monitor primarily for fast paced gaming, this is a top contender right now.

    This is an extremely good GAMING monitor. I emphasize gaming because these TN panel high refresh rate monitors are built for one thing, speed in fast paced games. That said, the image quality is still very good. I highly recommend that if you’re looking into getting a 1080p monitor, you opt for a 24.5″ instead of a 27″ because the difference in pixel density is quite noticeable, more so certain games. After a few tweaks in the monitor settings, the image is exactly how I want it. I greatly appreciate that mine arrived in an Amazon shipping box as opposed to slapping a shipping label directly onto the monitor box for the whole world to know what was sitting on my doorstep, as was done with my last one. I’ve been gaming and watching videos on it with no issues so far. No dead pixels or any other defects (thank goodness). Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase and would recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a 1080p 240hz monitor. As usual, if issues begin to arise, I will add dated edits to give you an idea of when things start to go bad.

    I was so very worried and concerned with placing an order for this monitor with a lot of reviews stating they had a monitor with dead pixels, missing parts, mishandled package, and just flat out not working!

    Well I am here to put your mind to ease.

    – 1st though there is one minor con to this monitor fresh out the box but then again most monitors are like this now a days. This monitor definitely needs some time and careful tuning with its colors. The whites are very yellowish and almost like a dingy yellow. You will need to find your balance but here is what i found to work for myself personally:

    GameVisual:
    Racing Mode or Cinema Mode (I read that Racing Mode is default and preferred choice but I tried other modes and only found Cinema Mode to be the only other acceptable one personally)
    Blue Light Filter: 0
    Brightness: 30
    Contrast: 60
    Color Temp: User Mode – R:90, G: 75, B: 90
    Gamma: 2.4 or 2.2

    (Again maybe my eyes are just funky but these are my settings and made things a lot whiter than out of the box state. These settings are strictly for Racing Mode but if you’d like to know my other settings I could update this post later on.)
    ——–

    Now the dead pixel that everyone keeps saying they are getting,

    – This simply has not been a case for me at all! I have been using the monitor since Day 1 of purchasing it and leaving it running 24/7. Not a single dead pixel. No real issues. Viewing at angles can make it look awkward and off but you should always be viewing and looking at the monitor straight on for the majority.

    – I would NOT recommend this monitor for those strictly using it for photoshop but for gaming and movies it’s great. Colors again just need to be adjusted accordingly to your preference.

    – Currently the monitor does not pull 240FPS on any game I have ran on it yet but does pull towards the 144FPS range aka 144Hz. This is even with Gsync enabled.

    Games I have ran so far:
    The Division 2 (Avg FPS: 100 on High Settings with some minor tweaks to other graphic settings)
    Ark (Avg FPS: 80)
    7 Days to Die (Avg FPS: 90, at my base. 130 in open space)
    League of Legends (Avg FPS: 206)

    PC Specs:
    Video Card – GTX 1080 Ti
    Processor – i7 6700
    RAM – 32GB

    *Again keep in mind these settings were MOSTLY set to high with minor tweaks in some graphic settings to my liking.

    – Overall the monitor performs well and makes every game feel like it’s running smoothly. No screen tears, no major issues that I have come across or noticed, and seems to definitely be very crisp in all games ran on it.

    So, would I recommend this monitor above others? Quite simply, no. It is a fantastic monitor and performs well but you could get a 144hz Monitor with Gsync probably cheaper and would run just as beautifully if not more so. Overall the monitor is great, its colors are pretty rough til you get the right adjustment for yourself, gaming performance is excellent but the price is still a bit high for not even being able to achieve 240FPS with my current PC build then again that is also on the games that I play. Some of their settings could be tweaked a bit further to push their FPS limits higher but then I’d have to sacrifice the graphic quality of the game in order to achieve more FPS. I think as it stands I enjoy the FPS that I am pulling and love that I am not sacrificing much in the settings of these games to get the FPS I am, but I would love to be able to achieve a more stable if not steady 144FPS/144Hz with these games.

    To just add-on that I came from a BENQ 60Hz Monitor that I was using for over 5 years and you can definitely see the difference in smoothness plus the more consistent FPS I get with this monitor compared to that one. The only real downside for me is that the colors are hard to balance a bit in my opinion and really hard to achieve that pristine white that I look for in my white colors.
