Been eyeballing M50’s for years, but could not justify the price for a new set of headphones especially if my ATH-SJ55’s are after years of use still perfectly functional. Always wanted some high end over the ear headphones but just kept on hesitating. Then Audio Technica introduced these with bluetooth connectivity which made me pull the trigger. I was super excited, especially after the long wait of longing and expected to write the glowing review first second I pull these out of the box. Instead I am immensely disappointed, and would return for a refund in a heartbeat, if I could. My problem is that even though they work perfectly fine, sound and fit great, they do have this terrible plasticky screech coming from the pivoting joints whenever I am eating, talking or just going about my day while listening to music. Words can hardly express my disappointment that units which I was waiting for this long are made so poorly. $300 headphones crackling like they aren’t worth more than $20 and completely ruin the listening experience. NOT RECOMMENDED.
Edit: Seller has been very helpful at getting my headset replaced. I am requesting replacement model in black to stay away from this fancy color which may be a contributing factor. Will follow up upon arrival of new set.
Edit 2: New, black set is everything this wasn’t. Review in appropriate section.
All in all, if you want great headphones, get them in black. M

Je cherchais un casque Bluetooth qui produise un bon son, sans pour autant devoir dépenser une fortune.
Le casque Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2MO correspond à mes attentes :
Les POUR :
– Appairage / dés-appairage Bluetooth facile et instantané, avec une confirmation par une voix féminine.
– Durée d’écoute de 50h (20 h environ avec le superbe codec LDAC)
– Rechargement rapide (je n’ai pas chronométré).
– Portée supérieure à 14 mètres (je n’ai aucune coupure quel que soit l’endroit où je me trouve dans la maison).
– Le casque tient bien en place sur la tête, et on peut bouger, faire du sport (par exemple de l’elliptique) en toute sécurité.
– Son de signature studio, source-dépendant : le son est vraiment celui du signal reçu, c’est-à-dire celui enregistré et mixé par le studio.
– DAC intégré de haute qualité ! On redécouvre des enregistrements qu’on croyait connaître !
– Beaucoup de détails, de subtilités, et de glorieuses nuances : on est étonné en passant d’une piste à une autre des différences.
– Exactitude des timbres et des sons.
– Grande séparation des instruments avec, ce qui est rare, le respect des signatures sonores des différents éléments.
– Lorsque qu’un enregistrement vocal est bien réalisé, on est transformé en tête du micro : on a l’artiste qui chante juste au dessus de notre tête, c’est incroyable. Le réalisme est alors époustouflant.
– Ce casque convient très bien aux musiques modernes : dance, disco, soulful, groove, funk, house, jazz divers, variétés, pop, etc. : c’est SAVOUREUX ! Si vous aimez les graves profonds mais exacts et bien détaillés, vous allez vous régaler ! Les divers sons de synthétiseurs sont sublimes !
– Application Connect App vraiment très bien faite ! : on peut choisir le codec LDAC (que je recommande de par sa qualité vraiment très nettement supérieure et STABLE) et aussi enclencher un égaliseur très pratique et efficace (Je recommande le mode paramétrique qui permet un réglage subtil et précis apportant beaucoup de plaisir – On peut sauvegarder des profils personnalisés).
Les CONTRE :
– Les coussinets n’ont pas des trous assez grands, et font un peu mal à la longue. C’est pourquoi je recommande vivement d’acheter les oreillettes et coussinets à mémoire de forme de la marque Brainwavz qui rendent mon casque Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2MO circum-aural, et qui protègent bien les oreilles, apportent un très grand confort, aussi un son bien meilleur car les drivers du casque ne sont pas limités par l’étroitesse des coussinets d’origine (Je me régale !).
– Le casque me semble un peu moins adapté à la musique classique, et au pièces chantées (une pointe résonance à un endroit du spectre), mais rien de grave.
– La conception mécanique du casque est à revoir car il lui arrive de grincer lorsqu’on ouvre la bouche ou qu’on bouge la tête, ce qui est parfois très irritant. C’est incompréhensible qu’Audio-Technica n’est pas détecté ce problème basique. Il faut absolument qu’ils le corrigent pour les futures versions.
CONCLUSION :
Ce casque Bluetooth est de grande qualité sonore, surtout pour son prix.
Le son est jouissif ! Et encore mieux avec les coussinets Brainwavz indiqués.
Je RECOMMANDE ce casque !
NOTA BENE : la photographie montre le casque équipé des coussinets Brainwavz aux trous bien larges.

I ended up settling for these. Reviews suggested their sound is decent. My first choice for a pair of wireless headphones were Grado, since I much prefer open ‘phones and I want them for wearing at home as I move around the house, not for on the street. But then I found out that the Grado wireless are the only Grados made in China, and given the human rights situation I am trying very very hard not to buy goods made in China. That ruled out the Dali and Focal, also. I could not justify going up to Beyer. I did not want noise cancelling. I contemplated Sony nonetheless, but something in me figures I have to be paying for all those features I do not want. So it was Audio-Technica and I opted for these instead of the more expensive ATH-DSR9BT. I wish I lived somewhere where I could listen and compare, just to be sure.
I got them and had relatively good first impressions. All these headphones are mostly plastic, so that is no big worry: the A-Ts seemed solid enough. I did not get any noise from them, as some reviewers say. The cups are a bit snug for my big ears, but were acceptable. Connecting them the first time to my bluetooth transmitter (Aluratek) was a bit fiddly, but I got it worked out. I want them mostly for listening to my large digital audio collection, not streaming, and that means from my older non-bluetooth dac/streamer. The sound was pretty good — about what I expected for the price, but definitely better than my $150 in-ear RHAs. As I expected, I found the closed sound a bit unpleasant but was happy enough. Full orchestral music has decent depth and resolution, chamber music was great.
I turned them off last night and then this morning I spent more than an hour trying to get them to connect again. The pathetic “manual” was no help, and A-T seems to offer no customer support. Given that I was trying to use a bluetooth transmitter rather than a phone or tablet, I figured a long exchange of e-mails would be more trouble than it would be worth. Since the heaphones were no longer usable for the main purpose I had bought them, I am returning them (thank God for Amazon’s return policy) (after cleaning the ear pads).
So, presuming that you are using a phone or tablet or laptop and you can keep them connected, I’d recommend them. Just be aware that if you have difficulty there seems to be no real help available.

El sonido es bajo hay que subir casi todo el volumen, no se nota el amplificador integrado ni el ecualizador que trae, tampoco hay diferencia al cambiar el códec de audio, funciona pero no es lo que esperaba

Gostei da velocidade da entrega, uso em meu home studio… Não achei muito confortável, usando para gravar ou mixar e master… não consigo ficar com ele por muito tempo, por ser muito desconfortável, sinto ele pressionando minha cabeça e isso dói. Outro ponto… não vem com o adaptador p10, mesmo sendo bluetooth, eu preciso adaptador para conectar na placa de áudio…
