I have been using these headphones for a month. And they sound great! Tesla technology is really amazing, I even prefer Aventho over my Beyerdynamic DT 880 for listing at home now! And I have bought Aventho to be my mobile bluetooth headphones with ability to be used a camera monitor as they have 3.5mm jack too. Works great for both cases, Aventho isolates outside noise pretty well but not too much. They are really comfortable, I have been using them for over 2h sessions with no issues. Though there are some minor complaints. Touch controls are useless, not responsive and does not register a gestures half of the time. Sometimes there is hiss when headphones are connected with bluetooth but nothing is playing. Though it happens only sometimes/or some apps and probably is an issue more with the Android software/bluetooth than the headphone model itself.

I had wanted these to be perfect from first hearing them. They come close! For me sound wise they beat B&O, B&W and Bose. The new Sony offering comes very close on sound, so close in fact the purchase decision will be down to features, style preference and comfort. Portable headphones are becoming so good these days that the decision is becoming more of go for what “you “ like and not merely follow the mass reviews.
    Here’s my opinion by feature
Sound – have patience, make a few EQ tweaks and burn in for 24hrs 5/5
Comfort – for me, good clamp, comfortable pads, nice sized on ears, not too small 5/5
Build quality – premium and so far very impressive 5/5
Touch control – mmm , most will stick to using device controls but I have mastered the swipe forward to skip track though 3/5
MIY – brilliant headphones rush released with a hearing test and personalisation app that is rubbish and does not work on the majority of android devices I’ve tried. Don’t get me wrong the concept is great and Beyerdynamic do state they will get this fixed but come on? For this price? 1/5
Price – Audiophile maybe, working as advertised no – these are worth £300 full stop. 3/5

My overall decision has been to keep them as they sound sublime with a good source. One day I hope to be able to complete the hearing profile and upload it to the headphones and if that happens I will update the review.

I own or have heard most of the Bluetooth wireless headphones from Bose, sennheiser, Sony and b and o and these new beyerdynamic rate in the higher end for sound quality. The touch sensitive controls are very good and can be adjusted in software and the battery life so far is well over 20 hours from a full charge.

While I will be using them mainly from my Samsung note 8 the android software does not allow as yet for the custom sound setup. I set them up them initially on the iPad and it all seemed to work well. The software on the iPad seems quite robust although it did fail and disconnected from Bluetooth during the first audio customisation.

As I feel after a few days of listening. These rate very highly and sound even slightly better than the Sony 1000 v2 wireless Bluetooth headphones and the b&o h9. The two best I’ll for sound quality and seem to support aptx hd although my note 8 reverts to aptx non hd for audible books and tidal. They are also very comfortable.

They do have no noise cancelling however so if you need that I would stick to Bose 35 or the new v2 Sony 1000 headphones.

I really expected more from Beyerdynamic having owned a pair of their headphones before. These were £399 when I purchassed them and I soon regretted every penny. Please note that I’m writing this review a few months after purchase, and used them frequently whilst they were still working.

Just to be clear, I wouldn’t class myself as an audiophile, but I really appreciate good sound. I also need the warmth that good, rich bass brings. I own a par of Earsonic Velvets for when I’m at my desk, Bose soundsport wireless for running, a set of Sony MDR-EX650AP to throw around (seriously good value for money if you need a pair of cheap and cheerfuls you won’t mind leaving on a train occasionally) and I’m looking for a new set of over ear wireless headphones.

I thought it would be easiest to summarise why I don’t like the Aventhos:

    – Lacking in bass with average mids and highs. Really disappointing. (I swear there was a day I stuck my cheap and cheerful sonys in and realised I’d missed their sound. They cost me £40)
    – Bad connectivity, having to go into my bluetooth settings 90% of the time to connect them with my iPhone X
    – Connection often dropped for a split second
    – After a couple of months the left ear went, and now they sound fuzzy and broken. Completely unusable.
    – Siri functionality NEVER worked. I even got in touch with Beyerdynamic to find out if this was unique to my pair and was told it was to do with Apple restrictions. This is untrue as since then I’ve owned other wireless headphones and had no trouble long-pressing a button to access Siri.
    – Although comfortable at first, they soon start to feel a bit tight and warm, clamped to your ears. It will feel like a relief taking them off after an hour or two.
    – They let a lot of sound out.
    – If i’m going to pay £400 for a set of headphones that doesn’t have noise cancelling capabilities, then I need to be really impressed with the experience. The Bose QuietComfort 35 II can be found for almost £150 cheaper, they sound considerably better and have noise cancelling capabilities. The Aventhos may look a bit smaller and more compact, but it’s not worth it.

I don’t usually write reviews, and hate to leave a bad one. But I really felt like I was taken for a ride with these, with Beyerdynamic using their brand name to get more money out of people.

I used to love Beyerdynamic headphones, but after my experience with Aventhos I will now look elsewhere. As much as I hate buying into high street headphones which I know have a hefty mark up, my experience of both the Bose and Sony equivalents are substantially better in quality, sound and price.

These headphones are simply not worth the money you pay for them and I would avoid them at all costs, however tempting it is to spend the money on trusting the Beyerdynamic brand name.
