Amazing camera esp in white and the square pic is way better than then the mini pic…..totally different experience for digital…..a bit of learning to compose the pic as you get just one shot

I’ve used the wide version of Instax for years and have loved the photo. However, most of the wide format Instax cameras are pretty Fugly. It’s pretty embarrassing being seen with one in public. So, when this pretty square format camera came out, I thought I’d downgrade to a smaller photo so I do not have to be seen carrying around that fugly wide format camera.
Big mistake! Almost 90% of the photo coming out of my unit has ghosting or out of focus image. This is when I have it set to “Auto”. I spent sometime doing tests and after many trial and errors, I’ve finally managed to figure out a setting that somewhat works better.
My only issue with this is that I can’t just turn it on, put it on Auto and take a photo. I always have to turn off the flash, guess how far away I am from my subject, adjust the settings, then shoot. Even doing so, half of my photos still come out either out of focus or have ghosting. This is with and without flash.
And no, I’m no newby when it comes to photography. I have been shooting for over 20 years, as an enthusiast. So I’m pretty familiar with optimal lighting conditions and how to work a camera. And, I cannot recommend this. I feel I’ve been scammed with a pretty looking camera with subpar functionality.
I will be selling this for a loss and going back to the fugly huge wide format instax camera that I have.

I absolutely LOVE my camera!
My coworker let me borrow her Fujifilm Instax Mini 9. The whole process fascinated me. I was between a Polaroid Snap Touch, FujiFilm Instax Mini 90, and the Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6. I decided on the SQ6 after seeing video reviews. I appreciate that I can take pictures without flash. Also, I liked the square film more than the mini. Yes it is a bit more expensive than the mini film, but I prefer the larger photo size.
I have taken it with me to Paris, Disneyland, and events with family and friends. I really love the look of my camera and how easy it is to use. People are fascinated by it and the mystery of how the pictures will come out. Even people that are camera shy will ask for a picture. I am still figuring out the double exposure and the rest of the settings, but figuring out will be fun.
One of the cons is that there is not a lot accessories for it, like there is for the Fujifilm Instax Mini. I have had to look for camera bags that will suit my needs.
I definitely recommend!

The camera itself we really like. It was a gift for our daughter and she’s having fun with it.
My caution for people reading this is some of the bundles match this camera with film packs that don’t go to the camera.
I assumed since they were being sold together with one price on Amazon that the camera and film matched each other, but when we gave it to our daughter on her birthday, she was super disappointed to discover she couldn’t take photos of her party because the film didn’t fit in her camera.
I went back to Amazon to see how this could have happened, and found that the bundled offering I bought wasn’t being offered anymore, however if you look at the camera, you’ll find in the upsell areas of the page that Amazon is still recommending film packs that don’t go with this camera.
Thankfully Amazon took the film back on return and our daughter was able to pick up the right sized film at a local store.

Update from 2 to 5 stars. Reached out to fuji directly and they sent me a strap and film (in place of the batteries). They were very fast to reach out to me and get this resolved. The camera itself is great, it’s not the best for any close up photography, but I like the multiple modes and the option to use flash or not!
Went through the reviews and questions, everyone else appears to have paid the same price as I did, but they received a neck strap and a battery with their cameras. Mine did not come with any of this and was only the camera. These are costs I now have to factor in and was not expecting. Not impressed!

Stopped working within a year’s time and I had literally preserved it so carefully that it was always kept in the box when not in use. In a bubblewrap because I was scared my money will go to waste. The film packets were spoilt too with white images on them. So dissapointed. NOT AT ALL RECOMMENDED.

The photos look great. The picture effects if you expect it to be like Polaroid, that won’t happen. And the pictures seem to be dark. You need a good amount of light to get a good picture, or else you need to shoot it in light mode. But overall a good camera, something you can impress your friends with.

Purchasing anything of this price online is a risk, but I did it anyway. Ordered it in Pearl White, and waited a year to write a review for durability check. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality, functionality, and weight of this camera that has lasted me more than one year. Though, doesn’t come with batteries and you need to purchase them on your own. I like having an instant camera, one that takes wider picture films. I’ve always found the small, thin, vertical instax films stupid. I want to SEE my picture, more so, and for this price I definitely get to. If you’re like me, buy it!
