As per the product manual, it is capable of ripping CD/Radio/Tape to MP3 (USB). While the CD to MP3 works flawlessly, Tape to MP3 is buggy, and works unpredictably. Beware of this before buying. Sound is clear but not great as it lacks the wattage. The LCD display is small and shows only track number, not useful while playing MP3. Overall, it is quite expensive compared to the features.

This is an excellent piece for the price. I bought this about 8 months back on Flipkart. Only thing is that the user should first know how to use it, instead of grossly blaming the set. After inserting pendrive and casette press play (casette) and the moment song starts press the Blue button \

It’s been around 6 months since I started using this boom box. It scores pretty good on audio cassette playback and cd/mp3 playback if played in a closed room. The bass effect add on feature obtainable by a single button press helps you listen to slightly improved quality of sound albeit scoring a bit less on the mids and highs. It does boom too much sometimes on high volume when the bass feature is turned on. But, for the price you pay for it, it does a very good job with its deliverables.

good product… however not very handy to use for old people since I gave this as a gift to my mom…. she had to wear specs to get it running bet it in radio or tape mode…
However this may be a good product for younger people wishing to convert their old tape cassetes..

Buy this if you have a big Cassette collection. The Philips Boom Box very cleanly record the cassette audio into the USB pen drive in digital format. This is an invaluable feature for me. And sound quality is also pretty decent.

I ordered this product, and although it was predicted to arrive a week or 10 days later, it turned up in just less than 48 hours. The packaging was excellent, and the product delivery was hassle free. Philips Arena Store had enclosed a bill within the product.
The sound output is akin to a low-medium priced car stereo, but the dynamic bass boost significantly improves the sound quality. The product works on power but can also take batteries.
The overall feel of the build is not extremely solid, but good enough considering the ?5150 price tag. The tape cover is firm, and the tape sits in neatly. The CD slot’s flip cover needs a little more careful handling. The cheapest portion of the product is the rubber-like cover of the USB port, which feels very flimsy indeed and it sticks out rather clumsily when a USB is inserted. The volume control and tuning buttons are sturdy, the CD and USB player buttons are satisfactory, and the tape buttons are firm.
Coming to features: this is the greatest plus point of the product: it plays Audio and MP3 CDs, MP3 USBs (even songs inside folders!) and has the capability to rip tape, FM radip and CD into a USB drive. The display is not LCD backlit though, or very informative for that matter: it only displays the track numbers and not the names of tracks.
FM Radio is very clear, even relatively weak stations are picked up with ease and play with a clarity that even more expensive players lack. The antenna can be stretched out further for better clarity and reduction of hiss.
Overall: It has the features, and at the price, it is a great product, especially for people looking to listen to tapes/CDs and convert them to a software format to store on the PC. It makes do with a solid FM radio system too.

It’s a value for money from Phillips. It doesn’t have a sound quality like Bose, or features like Sony, but overall, it’s good for day to day use. Cassette players have become rare species these days – this one has that advantage + wide range of CD features, and the good thing is you can convert your old cassettes to MP3.
Customer service from Flipkart was extremely poor though – the product reached the destination 10 days after the due date and Flipkart kept on giving lame excuses.
