I’ve had this headset for about half a year and within the first month the USB cord that came with it gave out but i thought whatever I have 50 of these laying around anyway so that never really bothered me, a little while after the USB socket itself became a little loose and now its mostly unusable while in USB mode if i make movements that put to a tiny bit to much tension on it. I’m stuck to basically using it Blue-tooth only

The touch controls are handy, maybe a little too touchy but the pause feature is very inconsistent especially if your multitasking(Gaming, Spotify, YouTube, Discord, etc.) the pause feature will usually pause ALL audio channels and that means muting discord and the current games audio for example, and when you resume if you had a YouTube video up on a tab in the background somewhere it will probably start playing even if that wasn’t your intention, and when you go to pause that YouTube video, well again it pauses all the audio channels. yes even if you go to the youtube tab and pause it in the browser it will STILL stop all audio channels. I usually have to disconnect it and reconnect it to get what i want up with out the YouTube video playing… (this only really applies in bluetooth mode)

One other thing is the headset has its own sounds to let you know when its getting low on battery and trust me you’ll hear it, there’s also no way to control the sound level of the ear destroying beep it lets out when low on battery or adjusting the volume up and down

When in Bluetooth mode i can hear static, hums, and a very sharp but low volume sound its really only noticeable when no other audio is playing but its still pretty unpleasant

The head set is pretty comfortable maybe a little tight. The build quality of the headset is pretty good and the aesthetics are beautiful in my opinion(I’m a sucker for LEDS)
I haven’t used the mic at all so i cant say anything on that.

For 300$(Canadian) i cant say I’d recommend it with all the issues I’ve experienced, I still use the headset daily I just avoid using the touch controls. I love Asus products but their headsets need some work

First off I am a HUGE ROG fan. Literally everything PC I have is ROG. When I saw the 700 was Bluetooth and I could go wireless and still have my RGB I was stoked. I also have the Fusion 500’s so I expected these to be the same. Most importantly YES they can Bluetooth directly to your Bluetooth enabled PC and go 100% wireless. Unfortunately, the RGB only works when you hook up to the included usb cable. This is kind of a bummer because it essentially makes them no different than the 500’s I already have. The second bummer comes in the 7.1 surround. Just like with the 500’s you only have a single driver. This being the case the 7.1 virtual sounds flat. In fact turning it off and installing the DTS Sound Unbound makes it sound WAY better. Last bummer, when you unplug from the wire it is definitely NOT a seamless transition to BT. You loose your audio feed and you have to reboot your bluetooth or PC to get it back. When you plug it back in you have to do the same again. This makes the “unplug to P” option, not an option. I hate to say it but ultimately I wish I had just bought the Fusion wireless so at least I would get the fingerprint free finish. Or, ultimately just jam with my 500’s because basically these are no different. They are definitely not sound quality alternative for my Bose out in the world so I don’t see them leaving my desk. Since I am all about the Aura Sync I don’t see ever unplugging them either. Basically I just bought an up-charge version of the 500’s. Bummer. Still love ROG and they are still great headphones, just not the “wireless 500’s” I was hoping for.

I loved the look and sound of these headphones. They were easy to find the right fit and comfortable. Also, these headphones have my favorite feature ever: mixing sound from the USB connection and the Bluetooth connection flawlessly, letting me take phone calls while still playing or working on the computer.

Unfortunately, the battery life never seemed very long for me and I eventually started using them constantly plugged in (which is how I discovered that feature I mentioned above). They also physically broke down far too quickly for the price; a $300 pair of headphones should last longer than a year.

After about 6 months, the cable developed a short somewhere in it so that any time the cable moved during use, the USB connection would drop and I’d lose sound and mic. It would quickly re-acquire after some short time, but my mic would often be muted, depending on the app I was using. This was an annoyance, but I was able to isolate that part of the cable to hold it still and mostly make it work. I couldn’t replace the cable, even though it looked like a standard Micro-USB/USB-A cable because it’s actually not. The jack on the headphone side is ever so slightly longer than the standard, making the standard cable unable to actually connect to the port correctly. I found no way to actually order a replacement for this.

Then just after the one-year mark, the padding on the headband broke, even though it was only ever sitting on my head or my desk. The headphones were still usable, but putting them on and taking them off was now a vast annoyance because I had to hold them a particular way to avoid the broken headband piece dropping onto my head or face.

Still, the sound on these is excellent. I can’t stress that enough. But I had to buy a different pair of headphones as these just weren’t working physically.

This headset is by far the nicest headset I’ve owned. Previously, I was using the Asus ROG Strix Wireless and was so impressed, I had to get this.

My first impressions of the headset is the build quality. It’s very rigid and I love the design. They came with a spare set of ear cushions and both are very comfortable. Personally I went with the leather, as it felt familiar. The music and sound controls on the side are fairly responsive. Rarely do I have to do the same input twice for it to register.

Moving onto sound quality, they sound great without the 7.1 surround. Nice deep bass and solid mid-range. When I turn 7.1 on, it has a bit of an echo. I definitely use it for games, but for music, it just doesn’t seem quite right. I haven’t tried the microphone on it much since I own a Blue Yeti, but I tested it for a friend who considered buying the same headset and he says it sounds a tad bit muffled, but I think that has more to do with him contrasting it to my other mic.

Some things to note: if you plan on using the phone app to change the colors of the lights, it’s very buggy and mine wont connect 100% of the time. It’s actually what keeps me from giving this a perfect review. In addition, my Aura sync app won’t sync the headset with my other aura products, however the Aura (Peripherals) app, which is separate from the Sync app, does allow me to control its lighting and works flawlessly. It’s a bit odd in my opinion.

To use the dual audio sources, you MUST use the USB and Bluetooth. You cannot use Bluetooth to connect to 2 devices wirelessly. This was a bit of a disappointment for me, but being able to listen to my music on my phone without having to ALT+TAB out of my game to change it and being able to pick up phone calls while in game without having to take off my headset WHILE listening to the game and my team on Discord is great. I don’t really mind being tied to it. It’s also nice because I can disconnect the USB and I can still listen to music while I’m roaming the house.

Lastly: I am receiving points in the ROG Elite Rewards loyalty program for my review.

There is a software glitch wherein if you’re connected to the PC via USB before you’re paired by Bluetooth, answering a call on your phone the mic will remain connected to your PC and the other person on the phone will not be able to hear you. Once you disconnect the USB cable from your PC, then it works fine again. I don’t know if it is intentional but it’s an odd problem.

Other than that, the headset is exactly as advertised. Solid.

    UPDATE:
    1) The Software glitch is fixed by installing the recommended software for the headset.
