Okay so firstly I picked these up for buttons off Amazon £11.30 plus £4.95 P&P. So right away I am on a winner, I mean these are Sennheiser so how bad can they be even at that low price. Well no worries, they are absolutely fine, I was looking to upgrade from some Sennheiser OMX 50, which hook around the ears, which I used because my right ear is slightly misshapen and standard phones keep popping out. These are the first in ear phones I have tried and I was slightly wary, hence not splashing out on the CX55 or CX95. They fit a treat, slip them in with the wires pointing towards the horizon, then twist around until the wires are parallel with your ear lobs and bingo! 🙂 I was able to immediately reduce the setting on my Sandisk E280 from loud to standard and zero the equaliser settings. Thus increasing the already impressive battery life and reducing any irritation I may have previously caused other travellers.

I still need to get used to the sensation of having something in my ears and the cable can occasionally transfer the sound of the cable moving, but overall I am very happy with my purchase.

Now to the downside and I admit it is a touch petty and brief in nature, but the packaging is designed by a lunatic with an advanced degree in applied sadism. Okay I appreciate the packaging has to be secure, but this is so over the top and the plastic when cut is sharp. Then there is the number of component parts to the packaging once you hack through the plastic. Someone needs to apply the philosophy of less is more to the packaging me thinks.

    In Brief: Buy them now!

Update: Just travelled by coach 2 hours out and 2 hours back, these ‘phones ROCK! Pink Floyd – Momentary Lapse of Reason, used to be a benchmark for home HiFi well it sounded like I was using my Arcam Amp and Mission 704a towers, clean, clear and great definition.

Good headphones. I’ve had both the CX300 and Creative 630s which are the standard mp3 player fair for those of us without the excess cash to spend too much on something that will break after 6 months to a year. I decided to upgrade a little with these as the price was pretty reasonable and it was either these or another pair of mx-90s.

Have to say I am very impressed. Overall the quality is way better than the CX300. They have much higher build quality and an overall better feel and include plenty extras including a carry bag, cable tidy and extra cuffs(seals whatever you call them).

Sound quality is pretty impressive. Once you have them fitted correctly they give a good but not overpowering bass with an over all clear sound over the entire range and not overly tinny either. A good fit is important to get a good bass if you don’t you really get it sounding washed out. Noise isolation wise they are way better than the 300s I can barely hear a thing with them in and nothing at all with the noise cancellation on the mp3 player turned on.

I’ll update on how long they last after I have had them for more than a couple of weeks but given the quality I have high hopes and with a two year warranty if they break I’ll definitely call in the warranty for another pair.

I have earlier bought a Sennheiser earphone. So, wanted to try this one too. But I didn’t like the quality of the particular piece. Although tone is fine, but couple of times static noise was coming when attached to laptop. This seems to be a decent earphone when used with phone, mp3 player etc.

Delivery was fine and on time. And the packaging of product was also decent.

Firstly, these in-ear headphones really are in a different league to any generic earphones I have used.

Being an iPod owner, I actually spent the first few years using those white earphones which come with the product. The Sennheiser earphones are a completely different proposition and offer far, far superior sound quality.

Secondly, they represent value for money (at the price offered on Amazon). Spending around/over the £20 mark might seem extravagant for some when it comes to buying earphones (especially as almost all personal audio devices come with a pair in the box), but I would say it’s an essential and worthwhile upgrade buying a pair of Sennheisers. They block out noise extremely well (useful for anyone who commutes/walks in a busy city/sits next to noisy people in the library – indeed, sometimes they have been used without any music being used purely to block out the constant chatter/coughing of others when I’m trying to work or study). As well as this, the sound quality is rather good though I’m sure audiophiles will always be able to find a more expensive product offering superior clarity.

My only complaints about the sound is that the bass is slightly too strong for my liking. I only bought these earphones as I had lost a pair of in-ear Sennheisers given to me as a present. The ones I lost were actually better and had a more balanced range of frequencies, but I have no idea what model they were. So they’re not necessarily my favourite in-ear Sennhesiers to date, but they were certainly a fantastic replacement given the price. The volume control is a bonus, though not too useful for me. At times when you’d want to cut the volume down in order to hear what somebody’s saying (e.g. a service announcement on the Tube), the earphones’ noise cancelling attribute renders it a bit useless. Very good product and would buy again if (and probably when) I were to lose my current pair again.

EDIT: After 2 years of infrequent use they’ve started to fall apart (I imagine that probably equates to 6-12 months). Gotten to the point where if I pull them out too quickly part it falls to bits and I have to squeeze it back together, falls off between the black and silver, held together just by the cable. I’m only lowering to a 4 star though, because the sound quality is still great.

I’m using these great headphones as I write this.
To start off, I’m a 17 year old student, incase some teens out there are looking for someone to refer to. I primarily wanted in-ear headphones for their noise isolation, so I could use them in school, watching programs on my netbook. The noise isolation on these is brilliant, work as pretty good ear-plugs too, thankfully you can hear talking (just) when you pause the sound, incase you think you hear the phone or whatnot.
For anybody new to in-ears like me, they’re not hard to get used to at all, feel normal after about 1-2 minutes (well they did for me).

Sound wise, first off, I need to confess to something, I’m not a great fan of music. I can’t seem to appreciate it like most people do.
These headphones have made a LARGE difference in my appreciation of music, I can hear much more of the music, in a sense that I could probably pick out each defined instrument (far far better than with any standard mp3 headphones).
I’m not a good person to listen to in terms of sound quality, don’t have much knowledge on the subject. But comparing these to standard headphones, the sound is FAR more defined, bass is noticeable but not overpowering and it never seems particularly tinny. Pretty dynamic sound, being in-ear, and surprisingly, opposing to standard headphones, increasing the volume actually improves the sound quality, instead of muffling it.

Value for money, these headphones are perfect.
But they come with a few weird (and extremely useless) add-ons – a useless cable clip and some form of strange rubber holder, but the bag is perfect, only as big as it needs to be, it can virtually go anywhere without a worry.

The joins in the cable seem pretty solid, but I wouldn’t recommend wrapping them around an mp3, stick with the back, they’ll last longer.

Overall – great product, I’d recommend it to anyone.
