I got them a week back. So they are still not burned properly. But they still sound incredible. They are crystal clear and are suitable for almost any genre. The mids are spot on and the highs are also very clear. The bass is tight but not like typical bassy earphones. So bass heads should not buy.

These IEM’s sound fantastic. I’ve gone through many sets of earbuds, headphones, and speakers in my life. They have great soundstage, are capable of producing a piercing bass in noisy environments, and generally totally enveloped me in my music.

The primary problem with these earbuds is the cable. Through my 7+ years of using Shure SE 215’s, I have gone through 4 separate replacement cables. The OEM cable is simply not durable enough to handle daily use. I would often plug my earbuds into my phone and shove it into my pocket. This is not something the OEM cable to these earbuds likes. If you do purchase these earbuds and plan on using them daily on the go, I suggest seeking out some sort of braided after-market cable alternative for when you inevitably have to replace the OEM cable. Aside from this issue, I absolutely loved the earbuds. I do not regret purchasing them,

I’m not a musician, and I listen to “lowly” unknown DJ EDM vs. the refined classical, rock legends, etc. “pro” music. However due to legal/liability reasons “motorcycle” audio brands (like Sena and Cardo) will never offer anything remotely isolating or cancelling – the 90db wind noise when riding at speed in an already advanced “skirted” full-face helmet. So, sorry, this review is for bikers, not audiophiles. The noise isolation comes first, and the sound stage second. Though I wonder how poor isolation (e.g. of standard foam tips) works for professional rock musicians on stage.

Already owning dual-driver LDAC Soundcores with very enjoyable separation of bass and highs, I first went for 425s, even though I did expect them to sound “professionally flat” compared to a less “accurate” consumer product. I could clearly hear the separation of highs and lows (aka the “soundstage”), but the mids and highs felt distorted rather than “natural”. The 425s bass issue is not that bad when using the white triple-flanged tips: the only ones that work isolation-wise on a motorcycle.

Compared to 425s, the 215s sound just right with the proper balance of bass and crisp highs. Let alone the price difference. However for unknown to me reason, since both should be identical shape-wise, 215s didn’t isolate as well with the same white Shure tips. I tried using “spacers” (cut from other tips), and it didn’t fix the issue. Getting third-party (Almond ones, ASIN B00WTBW6QY) and cutting them to the exact length (3mm longer stem than the standard Shure tips, though your ears can be different) did. So if you are unsure whether to get Shure SE215 or similarly priced Etymotic ER3SE, the former are way more comfortable (100% painless), while the latter sound just a bit crispier at the price of some ear discomfort, as they need to be inserted deep – with the same custom Almond tips. Etymotic also isolates a tiny bit better IMO. The pain does have it’s reward.

One helmet-specific issue is the art of bending the “memory wire” to rest against your skull, so the helmet won’t push on it and pull the earpiece out even slightly when putting it on. Cutting (or spacing) the triple-flange tip right is all about inserting it deeper into the ear w/o the earphone plastic body “springly” hanging on it. It needs to firmly rest inside the (outer) ear. Overall comfort-wise there is no issue whatsoever inside a modern full-face helmet with generous nowadays ear pockets.

Outstanding in ear monitors. Make sure you have a 20+ hrs Burn-in period. Expect a Studio quality sound. Top notch Mids Vocals Treble and Bass.

    Pro
This is designed for voice monitoring, so sound is mid forward. But quality of mid is full and pleasing to ears.
This is best suited for singers in the music band.
Very smooth sound. But this may be muddy for others with BA HEADPHONES.
Very comfortable design, but difficult to wear.
    Very good isolation.
    Very sturdy built.

    Cons
No extension of sound towards low and high. Musical ear phones are V type sound signature but this is reverse half V type. So that if you want to hear treble and bass extensions then this is not for your type.
Sound stage is ok but placement of instruments is worst. It is as if singers and instrument players are sitting on one chair and that to at front of stage. Sony is the best in soundstage and they give 3d type sound.Currently using xb90ex.
Can be used at low volume only because at higher volume the singer starts shouting at you as this is mid forward.
Don’t go for any entry level monitoring headphones as they are always good in mid. Only the flagships will covers all range. This is the trik they use to make people buy.
This is more like a 2d sound. This is for people who are only interested in voice and meaning of the song.

If you want to hear the music in its full glory go for Sony or sennheiser or audio technica. Their entry level headphones also give you full range sound. But as you give more money only quality of sound increase. Ie80, ie60 or xb90ex or monentum in ear etc makes you immerse in music. For soundstage and instrument placement Sony xb90ex is the best. I think only Sony has that technology to tune headphone to give 3d like soundstage with instruments placement in different distance.

I hope this review tell for what se215 headphone is for and who should buy and who should avoid.

I am a college student and have been using JBL Tempos on ear as well as inear. I later upgraded to the Sony MDR-XB70AP in earphones. They had really satisfied me with bass as well as high end detail. But then i thought to upgrade to an even better pair so after scrounging the net and e- commerce website and reading innumerable reviews i went for these Shure SE215. They are really awesome pair of earphones with fun sound. Bass is present as well as treble. The over ear design is a bit fiddly to put at first but you get used to it. My frank opinion is that as far as sound quality is concerned the sony and these shures are at par. I may be a little biased as my sony have got about 1.5 years of burnin whereas my shures are hardly a week old. But i will be updating my review but till then am really enjoying these earphones.

    Recommended?…..
Ammm… Let me say, if you are a college student and on a very tight budget then i will highly recommend the sony which are sold at about 3000 on amazon.

But if you want some famed company’s earphones, then Shure are the right ones.
Quality is good for the price plus removable cable which is a real boon.

I’am a bit disappointed as the price is way to high for earphones. I could have bought a decent smartphone from my 6 months of saving. But i am a audiophile so went for these. Also realised famed companies are selling their products expensive which are provided for at almost half price by indigeneous companies like sony. Therefore these are my first and last expensive earphones and would not spend such hard savings on earphones.
    Thats all folks !

These headphones are totally worth the price. Sound clarity is excellent, sound isolation is amazing- even in airplane you can hear movies and songs at a very low volume.

Warm sound with flat frequency response…no sparkling highs…no deep bass…superb vocal texture…bad sound stage & stereo imaging…strictly for monitoring purpose.

Absolutely fantastic.A perfect buy for all the true music fans who are very concerned with the quality of the sound and the clarity of each musical instruments. The price maybe a bit high but worth every penny if you are looking for an earphone with amazing clarity.Post-Rock,Jazz,Metal music lovers will adore this wonderful piece.I listen this with my Ipod nano, and boy it works wonders.
PS: Not really for the bass heads
