UPDATE: the sound cut outs and disconnects were from my phone. It needed to be updated and it began doing the same thing with my old headphones, my car, and my Bluetooth speaker at home. Performed a restart and an update and everything’s working better now! So that was on me, not the headphones. My other complaints do stand, but the primary issue was the sound cut outs, and now that I know it’s not these headphones I like them much more! Still maybe not worth the $60 price tag, but they’re pretty good honestly. Also, I’m 1 month into using them 2-3 times a week for 2 hours per use, and I still haven’t needed to charge them, so the charge is admirably awesome!

    ORIGINAL:
These aren’t the WORST headphones you could wear. But they’re far from the best, especially for the price.
I had a pair of Anker Bluetooth sport headphones I bought from Walmart in 2017 for $50 and those things were dynamite. They looked a little dorky I guess with the cord connecting them around the back of my head, but they were troopers. They’re still going strong after 6 years now, except for battery life (which I expected to just go out like years ago).
Bottom line, I really trusted this company from these headphones quality.
    That trust has been broken.
Glitchy controls, terrible pairing, and already worse sound quality to name a few.

Controls – there is 1 control on both ear. I don’t think they can be changed, which is fine. Right is 1 click sound up, 2 clicks pause/play. Left is 1 click sound down, 2 clicks skip track. Simple enough. However, the buttons don’t always react, and when they do there’s a delay. Meaning the music doesn’t ratchet up or down when you want it to, so I go “oh it didn’t register the button, let me hit it again” and then boom – track skipped, or song paused. Annoying.

Pairing – this is simply bad. I don’t know if the buds are always seeking or what. But they disconnect from my phone about 3 times per gym session. And it’s not always both buds – sometimes it’s just 1. Or it’ll cut in and out of connection during an entire song. There is no way to turn off the buds or reset the pairing without the case, which I do not carry in the gym; I leave it in my bag. And for a pair of earbuds, the case is relatively clunky and large, and it won’t stay in my pockets in gym shorts. This is just a complete defect of the product in my opinion.

Sound quality – I’ve had these for 2 weeks and they’re already quieter than my 2017 pair…. Come on man. I’m consistently getting warnings from my iPhone that my volume is dangerously loud because I’m basically at 80% on average for most of the session just to actually have the music sound good. For comparison, I’ve had 2nd gen AirPods since 2019 and I keep them on about 55-60% most of the time, usually with general quieter music than workout music. Sure I’m not in a noisy gym most of the time, but still.

Two good things to say – battery life is fine, you can get about 5-6 uses out of them before you need to recharge the case. Also it’s nice it comes with multiple sets of buds, but they can be a liability as they pop off VERY easily and I almost lost one today in the locker room just trying to wipe them on my tshirt.

All in all, for $60 I wasted my money. Overall very disappointed in these. My call is save your money for another month or so and grab some earbuds from Beats or JLab when they’re on sale. These are a fine backup pair, but I’m not even a month in and I’m already on the look for new headphones.

I wanted to wait a full year to review this product. Just for some background, I used their other Soundcore products such as the Liberty Pro that my wife ended up with. I enjoyed the product so much that when it came to looking for more secure fit, good for heavy bouncing, I decided to try the X10. They priced this just right. Other labels that most are familiar with (Beats, Jaybird) all demand higher price tag and I thought maybe the sound quality and ANC is not as robust on the X10.

Since my biggest thing was some sort of ANC and enough music to drown out the outside noise while working out or going for a run, I couldn’t care less about the nuances of different sound spectrum others are good at picking out. My hearing is not as refined so unless you’re grinding a fork across a blackboard, I wouldn’t find many things discomforting.

Fast forward 11 months (I bought this originally Jul/2022), I use this almost every week, either on my walk or runs (that I’m about to go on), or when I’m studying outside of the house. I make sure these are ready for me when I go to coffee shops and like, since there’s tons of noise from people talking and other environmental noises that can be easily distracting.

    To give my review:

    Sound quality – 5/5
I compared this with the Liberty 3 Pro, and honestly I can’t tell much of a difference. Maybe with equalizer it can change how the sound is produced, but I can’t tell if one is better than the other marginally. I’m sure the parts used is premium in Liberty 3 Pro and there’s a clear difference. I’m perfectly happy with the sound quality X10 produces.

    Noise canceling – 4/5
Noise canceling that I’m used to with Liberty 3 Pro is not the same in X10. Even though it cancels most, I can still tell it’s due to muting the external sound and some stuff still gets in. But the difference isn’t vast, and it serves me perfectly well when I’m studying at a loud coffee shop.

    Fit – 5/5
I’ll be honest, I have a bias to my scoring due to how perfectly X10 fits my ears. I was always fan of these round the ear design where plastic half ring fits around your ear for better fit. The plastic rubber? piece isn’t rigid so it conforms to my ears really well, I have yet to feel much discomfort when its fitted nicely. Just to advise, prolonged use of any earphones could cause irritation around the entrance of the ear canal, but this has been the same for me with every single ear buds I’ve had since grade school.

    Price – 5/5
At the time I purchased this product, it was 63.99 after promo sales (which Soundcore does a lot throughout the year). At this price, it was cheapest of other similar products sold by more popular brand names. I think if Soundcore continues to make amazing products at this price point, I think they’ll have me as a loyal customer for a long time.

I ordered Space A40s previously which sounded great but kept falling out of my ears. I tried replacing bud tips with memory foam, which helped but they would still fall out eventually. I ended up having to shove them deeper into my ear holes which was very uncomfortable.

So I decided to go with these SportX10s. I have to say that right away, even though the Space A40s look better for specs, these X10s sound great. I did some audio tests to hear the difference and it was not really much different in quality. X10s have deeper bass, that was the main difference that was noticable. And they are more comfortable, + of course stay put in my ears.

BUT, downsides vs. Space A40s are:.

    1. X10s are way less tight on latency. There’s an obvious audio delay when watching videos. A40s have “gaming mode” to reduce latency which was so great, so that will be missed.

    2. On both Transparency and Noise Canceling modes, there’s an audible hiss on the X10s that I didn’t notice on the A40s. Don’t notice it when music is playing. Sounds like white noise.

    3. Noise canceling isn’t nearly as effective on the X10s vs. A40s but it still helps a little.

That all being said, these are great for what they are designed for, which is staying put while being active. And they sound great. For $55 bucks, these are great TW earbuds. Just not the best for watching videos, and for sure not for gaming. For my needs, these work well. I’ll just use low latency or wired over-ear headphones for watching videos.

  5. Kindle Customer

I have tried a lot headphones to wear during cycling (one ear only) and these are the best so far as the hook really helps them stay in your ears. I have mostly Anker units and they all worked very well with long battery life. Great value for the money.

The battery life on these is very good and the case allowing for recharge when not near a power source is a great feature and I can ride over 5 hours on a charge and 2 weeks without recharging the case. You have to press a tiny mechanical button to change songs or get to the assistant but have not had any issues except when wearing thick gloves. They are comfortable with the hook over my ear even with my sunglasses. Sound quality and volume level is just fine even on windy rides.

I used these 4-5 times a week year round cycling in cold weather down to 10 deg F. and 98 deg F. in the summer. I contacted the customer service as they shipped with the song skip only on the left ear. I asked if I could change that and they quickly replied telling me to download the Soundcore app on my phone where I as able to change what the single and double clicks to for each ear piece. The app is useful for firmware updates and other things and you do NOT have to use the app once you setup everything. This is the #1 reason they are great for when you only want to wear one earpiece at time.

Because they are very small they can be dropped especially when wearing my wool gloves. One time a small drop resulted in buzzing sound that cleared up with a reset for the right earpiece as I was only wearing the one. Last week the right one stopped working but the left one was still good. I tried everything but it would not power on or connect. I filled out a Warranty request on Ankers website submitting all the information (serial number is on the box, so save it) and they replied the same day with troubleshooting steps which I did again but then you can reply back stating nothing helped and they then shipped me a replacment set in 3 days. Fantastic service and I am happy to have my right ear working again.

Anker could improve them by allowing more features for the clicks when using only 1 at a time. You have to chose between volume or track changes when only using one of them, you can not have both.
They should work to make them more resisitant to drops and allowing a battery replacement so they don’t go trash when battery stops working.

Purchased the white ones but when they arrived they’re more a rose gold/pink colour. As that’s not a colour option then the description is wrong. Fine if you like pink. Not great if you don’t. Quality wise they’re spot on though.
