Saluti

They sound great for the price and are built tough but the earpieces don’t fit in my ears very snugly and fall out all the time. Other than that they are great!

I ended up purchasing these after reading some reviews and opinions at Head-Fi, so I had a pretty good idea what to expect. I am extremely happy with the headphones, especially for the price. Obviously $35 is not going to buy you a $350 pair of headphones, but these are very tough, if not impossible, to beat on a quality-for-price basis and beat the pants off of some models I’ve tried that cost twice as much.

However, bassheads beware: these are not a bass-centric or bass-enhanced headphone. That’s not to say that the bass response isn’t good, because it is. Bass is very tight and punchy without muddying the rest of the mix, which was a problem for me with the CX-300’s these are replacing. But you are going to hear what the engineers put in the mix – nothing more. That was actually a huge selling point for me, but if you want your ears rattled off you need to look elsewhere.

That said, response is good across the frequency spectrum, with possibly just a bit of a bump in the mids. Highs are sharp and responsive without creating a lot of sibilance or overpowering the mids – these are not tinny phones by any means. Lows are solid. Bass drums have a nice dull thud just like they should without overpowering the rest of the mix. Mids really shine. Guitar and piano-based rock and pop sound fantastic, and jazz is very pleasant.

I have heard it said that fit is very important with these headphones, and that’s true. If they are not fully inserted they can sound thin and tinny, and it is important that the ear pieces create good contact with your ear, both for isolation and for bass perception. The stock “medium” sized pieces that were factory installed work great for my ears, but they come with a good selection of alternatives, including 2 sets of double-flanged cups. Isolation is good but not great with properly sized ear pieces. I find I need to bump my volume a notch or two in noisy environments compared with my CX-300’s. However, isolation is far superior to my MDR-EX90’s or any outside-the-ear buds, and what these phones give up in isolation they make up for in a much more open soundstage than my previous buds. This is probably owing to the vented design of the E10 vs the closed design of the CX-300. I can’t see isolation being an issue unless you spend appreciable time in very noisy environments with these phones.

Comfort was a big concern for me as I sleep on my headphones just about every night. The CX-300 has a lower profile and rounded back that is very unobtrusive to sleep on, and I was concerned that the squared back and slightly longer length of the E10 might cause some discomfort. Surprisingly, these are actually, if anything, slightly more comfortable to wear lying down and haven’t caused me any pain or discomfort while sleeping or upright even when left in place up to 7 hours at a time. Everyone’s ear being different, YMMV, but I find them very comfortable to wear even for long durations.

Build quality seems very good. Every tactile surface besides the wire is metal and feels sturdy. Accidentally dropping or sitting on these will not cause me a second of concern. The strain reliefs are short and low-profile with a hardened rubber feel, but seem to work effectively, and I don’t anticipate shorts or breaks becoming a problem. The wire is a bit thicker than either my EX-90 or CX-300’s, and microphonics are very minimal. By way of comparison, I never had a problem with my CX-300’s before, but going back to them after using these the microphonics are really irritating. Cord length is good. I haven’t found myself wanting for more slack or getting tangled up in excess cord. This was a welcome change from the CX-300, which has a very short cord that would occasionally cause the headphones to jerk out of my ear when shuffling my chair around my desk or turning my head too far away from my MP3 player.

Overall, I’d say these are without question the best pair of in-ear headphones that $35 can buy right now. I started out looking for a replacement for my CX-300’s that were inexpensive enough that I wouldn’t have to worry about abusing them and sleeping in them, and I ended up with that and a lot more. I would have been extremely happy with the quality and performance of these headphones at double the retail price. For what I paid, I almost feel guilty. As I said at the outset, these are not a good match for a basshead, but they suit me and my listening preferences perfectly. As long as you know what to expect I can’t think of any good reason you would be dissatisfied.

I had been on the look out for a reasonably priced pair of in-ear phones for quite sometime before I came across SoundMagic’s E10. I was seriously considering Sennheiser’s CX 300II which was available for around Rs.3200 on Amazon. Instead of buying it online I decided to buy it directly from the local store. I was in for a shock, the price had apparently shot up by almost a 1000 bucks, thanks to the depreciating Rupee!! In any case, before I chose the online & cheaper alternative, I decided to search around some more and I came across the E10’s and Signature Acoustics’ C-12. The C-12’s was available for around Rs.2800 & seemed like a value proposition. It had good reviews but as much as I wanted to support indigenous brands, there was something about the looks that did not appeal to me. Finally, I came across the E10s at Whathifi. It was rated 5/5 and was their best buy in the category for 2013. Here’s the link – […]. Anyways, it was available on Amazon for Rs.1899 and was much cheaper than all of the other alternatives I had considered. I decided to take the plunge and I was not dissappointed!!
I was glad I made this choice. I was afraid I would not get much of an improvement in sound but all my fears were put to rest by the E10’s. The E10’s sound open, detailed without being overbearing and has the right amount of thump. It can be easily driven by any phone as the power requirements are not very high. It is well built and the wires seem really sturdy so it should be able to withstand some abuse. It really is a satisfactory (but not better) alternative to my home Hi Fi system while I’m away, which, by the way, is a pair of Tannoy Mercury V4’s driven by a NAD 2100.
I own a pair of Sennheiser HD202s and Sony MDR- EX100LP (don’t ask, huge mistake), so I can only give you a direct comparison with these 2. Compared to the HD202s, the E10 sounds much more open and detailed and the bass is deeper. The HD202 is more laid back but needs much more power to drive it to the same volume levels. As for the Sony, it was an impulse buy and I regretted it the minute I plugged it in. I would never recommend it to anyone unless all they want is a better alternative to the scores of chinese headphones out there!! Besides, it only costs around Rs.900, but never consider it for an ‘upgrade’.

So, in a nutshell, here are the Pros and Cons :
    Pros –
    > Open and detailed
    > Not ear shattering, but adequately deep bass
    > Good build and Aesthetics
    > Uncompromising sound for the money
    Cons –
    > May be not laid back enough for some? (not really an issue, eq adjustments should take care of that)
    > But, really, nothing at this price!!

I would say the E10’s would beat your bundled ear phones hands down and I won’t be thinking of upgrading from the E10’s any time soon!!

ff>>> 16.06.2015 : I’ve been using this for over a year and a half now and it works perfectly fine.. As I mentioned earlier, the build is solid!!!

SoundMAGIC, the Chinese firm founded in 2005, have had a quick rise to fame producing some amazing quality earphones at low eye catching prices. Having registered their trademark “SoundMAGIC” in 2006, their E10s have come to the attention of many, standing out amongst the other models they make, with recognition and awards flooding from leading independent reviewers of sound and vision acknowledging their achievements…
Stuff magazine 5 Stars award, What Hi-Fi best in-ears under £40 for 2011, 2012,2013 and best in-ears under £50 for 2014 consecutively… Guess they like them.

Hopefully we agree, the most important points when considering purchasing headphones are below.
To start though, let me point out that the difference between the new and old model E10s is the cable design only for which I explain in greater deal below. I do believe the sound is that bit better on the new E10s, as well the build quality too here seems better, though that’s my own opinion and perhaps subjective… SoundMAGIC have only confirmed details over the new cable design. So, The Drivers, Housing shells and the build quality generally are identical to the older model.

    Cost: 5/5
No need to go into detail here… What your getting at this price tag is simply too good to ignore.

    Sound quality: 5/5.
Top marks here for both E10 models, Impedance on these are 16 ohms and sensitivity is 100db, the high and low mix here is perfect.
Bass is weighty and tight, mids are detailed and clear, treble is clean, crisp and this is truly wonderful to find on IEMs at this price range.
Overall they are tremendously well-balanced and clear, the spaciousness they produce is really fantastic. They keep up with the changing pace producing solid, precise leading edges and controlling the different beats and rhythms effortlessly.
One minor problem would be at truly high volume levels it does all get a little harsh and sharp, expected maybe, not really an issue and i would advise against such levels of loudness… unless being stone deaf appeals to you in the near future.

Build quality: 4.8/5 (for the original E10s 3.9/5).
The build quality of the new E10s are amazing, what your getting for this price is astounding, solid and tough from the metal driver house shells to the cable, the metal splitter to the gold plated 3.5mm jack connection, they all come with a premium feel expected from more costly IEMs… Truly amazing value for money.

(The order E10s, though just as well made and strong without sounding like a contradiction, did a little poorly in the scoring above due to an uncommon yet known fault mine suffered, the left driver housing on the left side came loose little over a year from purchase, the right side slowly followed. Not a giant issue as re-gluing was easy but annoying and though not a common fault, With only just over a years solid use to that point, for me really isn’t good enough.
The sound quality they gave throughout this time however never diminished).

    Accessaries: 4/5
Pretty standard really but still quality, a leather synthetic drawstring pouch (some do seem to come with a semi rigid case) that can accommodate your spare tips and IEMs with plenty of space left, which is good as there’s plenty of silicone tips to play with here to get the right ear canal fit. There’s no mic ability on these (E10M have that ability but on the older cable design) which would of been nice and I would of preferred a hard shell case with a zip, really though, for the price that’s paid what more would you want or expect.

    General feeling and use: 4.9/5
I’ve owned the old E10s and the new tweaked look E10s combined for nearly 3years now and I’m absolutely convinced I made the right decision.
There price sat really well with me and I haven’t been let down by there quality or durability (older E10s too, up to a point obviously) whether I’ve been out walking, cycling or traveling they have seen the journey through. They are comfortable to wear with a premium build, easy on the ears and unencumbered (Particularly when you find the perfect fitting silicone ear tips from out of the bunch) and they have the right amount of weight lending to them feeling secure. They look rather inconspicuous, not showy.
The new twisted cable design, slightly stiffer then the older model but not annoyingly so, was created to prevent cable tangle and fade and works really well at achieving this, the quality is excellent and feels much more wear resistant then the previous E10 design did.
Again, at this price point what more could you want… They look, feel and most importantly sound amazing… I was and still am sold.

I would certainly have no hesitation in suggesting the purchase of the new twisted cable design E10s absolutely.
As for the older model, they were brilliant till they wasn’t, the sound quality remained true and I’m sure my issues suffered with them was just bad luck on my part, but worth considering and remembering as many sites sell these ones but the picture advertised is of the new… Know what your buying.

My opinion: the E10s are a truly great all rounder, no other earphones, certainly in this price bracket I’ve found come close to competing on this level… And they do punch above there weight here.
You will not regret it, purchasing these at this price is a no brainer.
For sheer quality and sound overall it simply has to be…. Brilliant E10s!

These are actually my second set of the exact same E10’s. My original E10’s lasted about 5 years with regular use only failing after the coating came off one of the wires and ultimately the wiring failed. Love the sound of these little gems. They have a larger 10mm single driver. Housing is machined aluminum. Low impedance worked well with my trusty iPod. These have picked up many awards in the early 2010’s for sound quality in it’s class and they are hard to beat for the price, glad they’re still available. As is usual, give them about 40-50 hours break-in for them to blossom. Also, as with all earbuds, it’s important to have the right tip fit & seal in your ear canal to get the fullest sound. Made in China. Fabulous bargain in ear buds, so treat yourself to some Ear Magic!

I am using this past 3-4 month. Here is my review. First you need to understand if you heard something the way you feel it will not be same for other. And you need to figure out what type of music you like and what type of sound you looking for.

In my case I like crystal clear + crisp sound, not a bass lover. And i need isolation (no outside sound).
So what type of sound E10 produce according to me.

Sound is clear enough but crispy factor is missing, may be because this one has balanced bass. Sound gets more clear if increase volume which generally not happen in other headphone. Bass is very good but not like SONY XB series. If you don’t like bass at all go for “house of marley smile jamaica”. But those who are looking for all feature can go for this or “Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones (Mi Piston 3)”. If your priority is crispy sound don’t go for this at all, instead I’ll recommend for you go for “Panasonic”.

    Note:
0: No 90* angle 3.5mm jack. (for me this is very important)
1: Wire is not full tangle free like flat cable. (but because of hard wire easy to solve)
2: Isolation level is not too good at this price.
3: If you touch wire you can feel sound in your ear.
4: Not good design. You will not get good fit in your ear. (I personally like “MI Piston 3” design when it comes to perfect fitting)
5: You will get very nice pouch to carry headphone and all size of Earbud.

    Updated Review Dated: 14-Apr-2016

Hello everyone! I’m writing this review after using this product for 2.5 years. You can find my earlier review below.

After getting this product, Initially I was impressed with this product and I have rated this as 5 stars. And yeah, It was deserving 5 star ratings. But after using this product for continuously 2.5 years, I feel this product is not worthy at this price and neither 5 star rating is worth.

Out of the two ear buds, left ear bud is producing low sound as compared to the right one. There is no any broken wire or nothing! I checked the cable properly, everything is fine. Still I have no clue what’s wrong with this headphones, I tried changing phones and laptops as well. Same results with all. I had purchased this product after long research, but didn’t know that It is up to the mark product. I paid 1800 INR. for this headphones, and I can’t expect such product.

    Hello Guys,
I just bought this and have to say its Amazing!!!

I’m having Creative EP-630 also, and I was hell confused before buying any Headphones for my HTC Sensation XE(Beats Audio). I can’t compromise with my Music experience. I seen almost every possible options in my range, read thousands of reviews everywhere of different Products. Checked Amazon,Flipkart, Infi, Snapdeal etc. I was thinking for good upgrade, was confused about any New Product, because Sound lovers knows that EP-630 beats any headphones at its range. And I don’t want to downgrade my Music experience by purchasing any low quality product, Reviews of every other Products were confusing Everywhere. Finally, I end up with SoundMAGIC E-10 by reading Reviews at Amazon US, They gave almost 4.5/5 Starts to this Product, and found most reviews were helpful. Made a Final decision to buy. Ordered & Received.
And Here they are. Just Speechless. My all expectations about this Product were damn correct, I love everything about this Product. Build quality is too good. Full Metal, looks Robust. Bass, Treble, vocal sound, All the instruments sounds Best. I love Everything!!! Of course, they are 1 level up than my old Creative. Much deeper quality in all areas. I found some bass in some songs that I never had with Creative. Bass lovers should not miss this. Overall this is the COMPLETE Sound Experience.

There is no such “Burning” process required here, Just use it normally, they will tune up with your play list.
Yes, I Highly Recommended this Product. 🙂

About Amazon Service, Best as always. I bought this Product at 1799INR.(Lucky!!) Thanks a ton Amazon.

CAUTION: Many Brands write “HighWoofer”, “High Bass” to their Product names just to get attraction by customers, Never ever get amazed with such products. Think again, Good Brands never show off such things in their names. They keep Genuine names as always. Be sure, what you’re going to buy. And if require, check Amazon US/UK for reviews. Choose Best!

I hope my review helps you. 🙂
