The roti maker is nice.. and was cheap compared to others. But the sad part is i could not make roti in it. Sometimes its thick sometimes hard. Sometime ok.

For making chappati in them the dough should be very sticky.. i tried and was improving but felt tawas are simple 🙂 I know this roti maker things work. As i have seen my aunt making soft roti on them. But you need to invest time to learn them.

We eat rice and make roti on tawa. Haha and then what do we do on roti maker? We make papad as we use induction in our home . .. it roast papad well

The product is good but its thermostat is bound to become inoperative after a couple of months. If you can replace the thermostat, which is easily available in spare part shops, yourself, go for it, otherwise the repair cost may become a botheration. Other alternative, which I am following, is to have the wall plug switch within easy reach so that you can switch on & switch off manually. With a bit of practice you can cook very good chapatis without an automatic thermostat. The heating elements and the ” Tawas” are good.

    My experience.
    1) takes long time to autooff . With in 1st 3-4 minutes it gets heated which is sufficient for roti making, but it continued heating . Thermostat is not good .
    2) due to overheat roti looks ready to eat but inside it is still unbaked. Try other companies roti maker which have temperature control.
    3) MOST important – steel body also get overheated . My finger got burnt when I mistakenly touch steel body. I suggest only experienced people should use it. Better try for ceramic or fibre body roti maker.
    4) I had made roasted papad on it. It was good.
    5) Amazon delivery and packaging was good. Delivered before date .

Day 1 to 1.5month – Bad Rotis, burnt, Hard unedible

After 1.5 months of practice, every piece of dough becomes a Phoolka. It crazy how underated these machines are. Most people write a review without much practice. We eat rotis everyday, although rotis made via this have a smaller diameter, it is well compensated by making 3 different layers for a double decker puff.

Result being, rotis come out puffed, very soft and steaming hot. What I also noticed is that rotis made via this machines vs regular gas stove operated frying pan is that rotis can be stored for upto the next day and rotis remain soft . If we fry using the pan rotis will be soft but not for long.

Its magic will work only if the user developed the Phoolka skill. The learning curve is simple, just read the instruction and keep following the same principles even Sif the rotis in the begining might come out hard, cracked, burnt, torn, etc. Be patient and learn slowly with time. Once learnt it’s amazing, saves a lot of time.

No more rolling rotis, no more waste of natural gas as cylinders have become expensuve. Only problem is power outages which render this product useless. But I blame the local govt. and the distro.for that .

P.s. spending more than 2000 INR for a roti maker will not yield any results. Prestige PRM 5.0 is no better a roti maker than this sunflame RM01. So think 1000 times before buying an expensive roti maker as the output and time of making roti is exactly the same. Sunflame is more reliable and more durable Roti Maker. Prestige will have a shorter lifespan.

Rotis made get baked and hence are hard and thick. If you don’t make thick roti i.e. if you don’t put a big ball to be flattened, roti will be like papad.
