Voltas Grand 72E Air Cooler

Reviewing after 1 month of use, it is one of the best coolers in the market you can say. I went with it bcz it had Voltas name in it and so far i do not regret my decision. Keep in mind that takes some space but it very light to move around. It comes with a remote control and water level sensor, has swing option, 3 levels of speed adjustement. Good for a family use. But it is still a cooler dont expect an air conditioner.

 Update after 1 year and 20 days: The fan stopped working. It is just out of warranty and so we will be charged to change the motor. (Not fix, but change the whole motor)

Technician says motor is burnt out and needs to be changed, but actually the motor is coming on. The stator coil is very good, but the bush bearings are jammed. And we can see that it’s rusted inside.

This is likely due to moisture getting inside. The design seems to be flawed since the motor should be protected from moisture considering it’s in the center of water and humidity. But there is no covering here.

It’s a simple fan with motor but the way its designed makes it very difficult to open and check what’s wrong.

Because we are machine savvy, we know what is wrong. Its not that the motor burnt out.

Even if we replace the motor, it’s likely that the same thing will happen in a year or two because moisture will continue to get inside. The design needs the be upgraded to protect the motor.

All machines these days are built to last a few years. Then you have to scrap and buy a new one. Buying a good brand, premium product and higher cost, doesn’t make a difference.

Update after 2 months:
It’s working great. No complaints about the functions and power of the cooler.

The castor wheels don’t roll as smoothly anymore but it’s not a big deal.

The biggest issue is the dust. It settles on the honeycomb and the water inside. Have to deep clean it at least once a month so it’s high maintenance. I would’ve preferred one with collapisble front and dust mesh for the sides and back.

After a week or two of refilling, the tub gets dirty inside. So have to take it out to my balcony and drain it… Rinse the tub out and then fill fresh water.

It’s a great cooler just high maintenance.

Okay, so this is way bigger than I thought. I measured the dimensions given but this is much bigger. (I’m not complaining!)

The cooler is awesome!

Look how tiny my 1 ltr water bottle is in front of this giant! We waited a week for this cooler and was so excited when it came. But was shocked at the size! It’s huge in person.

I bought this because my dog was feeling too hot! And she absolutely loves it and sleeps in front of it all the time!

I did a lot of research for a good cooler or AC, and I’m very happy with this.

It’s extremely lightweight. My dad and I carried it up the stairs like it was an empty cardboard box.

It’s very powerful and has cooled down my room tremendously. Even after switching it off, the room is cool for hours .

And it can make the room really cold in the night. I wanted to put ice in the water but it really doesn’t need any.

I run it on dry mode in the night and face it away from me, so the room is cool and I don’t catch a cold.

I’ve also made sure that the backdoor or window is slightly ajar so the cooler gets fresh air.

The remote makes it easy to control.

On the second day the machine was on and the water was flowing inside, but the fan wasn’t working. And I thought there was a problem with it. But actually we just had to switch on the fan using the fan speed button.

There’s low, medium, and high speed, and if that button isn’t green, the fan won’t run.

It’s easy to fill water with a pipe. And surprisingly you can roll it around the room so easily even when it’s full of water.

There’s a plug at the bottom to easily to drain the water. And it can be open easily using knobs at the back. The water in the cooler became yellowish cause a tiny piece of the honeycomb was floating in it. I rolled it on to the balcony, drained it out and filled fresh water.

The plug has a long enough cable too.

The only thing I would’ve liked is the mesh net for the honey comb. Cause dust catches on to it.

Also the cooler will stink for the first few days cause of the honeycomb. You get used to the smell though. But be prepared for it. It’s not burning, and its not a bad cooler. It just needs to run a couple of times and the smell goes away completely in the 2nd week.

So far, haven’t faced any issues with the cooler. Just make sure you have enough space in your room. My room is about 200 sq ft I think and it’s a fabulous giant that doesn’t really fit!

Have to rearrange the room to make place for it. But totally worth it! Would definitely recommend it.

 We want to use it for cooling purpose. But that is not good
